My 26 year old nephew a couple of months ago went to a wedding reception...The next day, I was sitting out on my front porch, enjoying a coldie, at the time, my nephew and his wife lived next door to me.He asked me if I had any Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin music. Kinda freaked me out that someone his age would ask for this type of music...I told him yes and ran him some copies of what I have...I had to ask him why he wanted this. He told me that they had played this type of music at the wedding reception and he thought that it was so cool.He had never heard any of this type of music...
This is the music that I was brought up on, along with big band , dixieland jazz, and chicago blues..My parents were always open to music...Thats why my parents, when they were older, listened to what is now known as classic rock now. They liked the music that my sister and I brought into the house. So, I guess in a way, be open to your type of music, any other type of music, because someday, you may be rockin with your kids, like my parents did with my sister and I. Enjoy the journey, because it`s all good. Caris, thanks for starting this topic..it`s going to be interesting to see some of the posts |

My dad listened to The Everly Brothers, Sam Cooke, Hank Williams Sr., CCR, and tons of others that I grew up listening to it too. I am a rocker at heart, but I still jam to the classics from the 50's, 60's and even the jazz and swing era. Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, The Beatles....a like it all. And yeah, I get looks from some kids and all. But what is cool is that my younger cousins, nieces and nephews are all getting into this music too. Good music never dies.
