Topic: Tolerance in religion.

If you have not read my other post, I do study witchcraft and I also follow no religion.
With that out of the way....

We need tolerance when it comes to religion.
I could easily sit here and bash the Christian groups who are out there telling me that I am wrong, but it's not just Christians; it's a lot of other belief systems as well.

It doesn't matter what faith you may or may not follow because there is going to be some other religion out there that is going to try and get you to convert.

Isn't religion (a basic view) about tolerance and love?
When did it have to come down to "I must save this person and/or this person is on the wrong path so I must save him/her!"

Don't we all have a right to think differently?
Don't we all have a right to religious freedom?
Being that we do, why do people continue to throw their bull**** down out throat?
Is it for the greater good or is it just because they're trying to inflate their ego?

We need to be tolerant of others religions, and we need to be tolerant of each other.

If we do not find a better way to live on this earth, religion will always find a way into our lives, whether we like it or not.

Hi.
Yes i beleive that there is a freedom of religion in this country....currently i fight for that freedom. I am a christian. But i beleive the main problem with christianity today is that most christians don't practice what the bible tells them too. To be tolerable of other peoples beleifs as well...our only responsibility as christians is to love, and to spread the word of god. After that our responsibility ends and Gods takes over. That is the problem alot of christians think it is THEIR responsibiltiy to save a person...it's not. Educate yes...save no. Just my opinion...welcome

Well said.
Yes, I do agree that a lot of Christians aren't really getting the true message in the bible. A lot of them take it to a new extreme. This can also be said for a lot of other religions.
Take for example, and I am not bashing all of you, Wiccans.
A lot of younger teens are finding their way into Wicca.
That is well and good but a lot of these teens think they can only read one book and know all that there is to know.

As with the bible or any other book you may read, it won't teach you everything, and you won't know it all.
True experience is through those who live their beliefs every day without having to try and make an impact on someone else.
It doesn't matter if you are a Satanist or a Christian.

Indeed, I've seen just about every religion bash eachother, wiccans bashing christians, christians bashing muslims, etc etc etc etc. It all should stop in my humble, even when comes to my fellow christians trying to save our brothers & sisters we need to remember that only they can choose that salvation. We get along pretty good in my family regardless that I'm christian, my mother wiccan, my father agnostic and my brother an atheist. As always, to each their own;^]

I didn't brush you aside! Heh.
I just didn't have anything to say in response.
But... for the fun of it... I am German and Irish. I am more Irish than anything else.

He Russ,

I’m a non-religious person. Not an atheist, nor agnostic. I actually have a pantheistic view of the world, but I don’t think of this in terms of ‘religion’. To me it’s just more like an understanding of the world I am a part of.

I don’t care for organized religions of any type. I don’t put them down, although like you, I won’t tolerate being proselytized. As soon as someone starts proselytizing they lose all my respect and I treat them accordingly.

So I fully understand where you are coming from.

Even though I claim to not be “religious”, I do believe that the universe has a spiritual nature. Therefore I have absolutely no problem believing in the magical powers used by of shamans and witches.

I don’t believe in a single separate egotistical jealous godhead who feels that his creation is nothing but a bunch of pathetic inherently sinful losers who need to grovel for forgiveness in order to win his love, otherwise he will show them the wrath of his demonic side.

I suppose you know which religion I’m talking about. laugh

I tend to think of the universe has simply having a spiritual underpinning and we are all manifestations of this single all-pervading spirit.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

The only book I know of is the universe itself.

It's a pretty big read.

i have to agree with isaac. (btw, welcome infectious! flowerforyou ) i try to show love to everyone. i respect the fact that others beliefs are different than mine. i even try to learn more about what others believe. (i think its the teacher in me. laugh ) i dont shove my faith or love of jesus down anyone's throat. if someone would like to ask me about my beliefs or why i believe as i do, then i will tell them. i dont get involved in all the arguments on here. its a waste of my time. besides, a lot of ppl on here believe that the bible is a bunch of fairy tales. what good will quoting it do if they dont believe in the message?????

im done my rambling. i hope you enjoy your time here infectious! flowerforyou drinker smokin
