I have bipolar disease. There are others on this site who have clinical depresion. I have been reading some posts and want to clear something up.

There is a great stigma attached to people with this illness. Some depressed people are bad people. That can be said with blind people, paraplegics, hell, normal people too. But not all depressed people are bad.

I suggest visiting the depression thread in the Misc Advice section of this web site. There are wonderful people there. Caring, compassionate, loving people. I hear alot of complaints about not being able to find a nice guy, or a caring woman. I hope the stigma attached to people with depression will not scare you off. Like I said, there are bad apples in every group. If you personally had a bad experience with someone who has this disease, I am sorry.

It is hard to find partners for all on this site. Just try to do so with the negative stereotype hung around your neck like people with depression have. We are no different than anyone else. There are far more wonderful people with depression than bad ones....especially on Just Say Hi. Thanks.

Just want to add one more thing...it takes alot of courage to admit to the world you have this disease. If you visit the depression thread, please be positive if you decide to post. It would be a shame to have someone who needs help go to the depression thread and see a bunch of negative and thoughtless posts.
Coming to the thread is hard enough. Admitting you have a problem and seeking help is a giant step. And posting in public is a brave feat in itself. So I hope you will be prudent and understanding with the thread if you decide to visit. Thanks to all who have read this thread.

I think, and I've found in my experience here, that most of the people are truly accepting of whatever comes there way. Those that aren't, well, they don't usually last long and they're not worth anyone's time anyway.

As some have said, I too, have had some health issues which I thought would make dating and new relationships difficult. But, I've found, a lot of the fear I had was misplaced.

I wish you well in your journey flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

I wish only the best for people with depression, bi polar, and whatever. I know it's not their fault. BUt I will say that my ex suffered from depression and it can be very difficult to deal with at times. The side effects of the medications can also be a challenge to deal with. In the end, it was just too much. I wish her all the best and hope she finds the happiness she deserves. I still believe that deep down, she's an amazing woman.
