I have found someone I am really fond of. However he lives FAR away. I want to talk to him get to know him and see where it goes. Iam a huge fan of a Travis Tritt song (drift off to dreams)that says "you might be hundreds or more miles away." and I feel like that has been the song of my life. I have never been 1 to settle for a relationship just becasue the man is there. I want happiness. Do you have any advice and has anyone had luck with a LDR?

please let me know!
Hope to hear from you all!!
Thanks!
Amalie

of course they can..i am currently in a LDR myself..granted my sweetie only lives about 2 and a half hours away from me, but we make it work. we always make sure to make time for each other, with phone calls, IM's and e-mail daily. Make sure that you focus on communication...LDR's are doable, but keeping a constant line of communication is very important. Best of luck to you. I hope it all works out for you.

i see nothing wrong with it, but i wouldn't go start a "relationship" with somebody unless there was a possibility of moving a lot closer pretty soon.

None of mine ever worked out, but there were other factors involved. I wish you good luck.

i agree about the moving closer thing. that is one of the things my sweetie and i have been discussing here recently. being closer together is something we both really want.

Tried it a few times, it never worked, wouldn't do it again.

"Out of sight, out of mind."

It's true, they were all out of their minds.

In my opinion if both people are happy in a long distance relationship it has it's chances of working out. Ive always thought, why should I limit myself to the women that live in the same place I do. To me, my soul mate could very well be in a place ive never thought existed or that ive never heard of. Sometimes you gotta take risks. I did and she crushed me but im still searching in other places other than the town i live in. Also distance makes the heart grow fonder so if there are times you visit it'll be new and exciting everytime. Hope this helps.

Here is another glutton for punishment! I too have a crush on someone that lives hundreds of miles away. sad If neither one of us is ever going to move, what's the point  Guess we'll remain internet friends  You can never have to many friends!! Especially on the internet. happy

Great and wonderful luck to you!! I hope it works out for you, and you'll end up in each others arms in the same town in the same house!! flowerforyou

Honestly, long distance relationships tend not to work out. Being apart causes too much stress on the relationship. I've done it and although we were together for almost two years (and are still best friends), the day-in and day-out stuff that a couple experiences when they are closer in distance, is missing and can't/couldn't be replicated by telephone and email.

Well, you never know, it could work. The world is full of possibilities. It depends on what you both want and what you're willing to do to get it.

I just want happiness... who says my happy ending is where my life started. as long as I give it all i have 150% right! just pray that he does the same. Am I a fool to believe God has 1 person for each of us and that he sends them to us when he is ready? perhaps I am.

Unfortunately, due to immigration, it is harder for people from other countries to just "move" there unless you get married and with that being said.......it takes alot of $$$$$$$
