| Topic: Anyone every try fencing? | |

I'm an amateur fencer. I haven't really met many other people who fence, besides the people that went to fencing classes with me. I really like it, it takes a lot of phyisical and mental power to get a hit once you get really good. Also, I think swords are awesome, any excuse to play around with pointy things or to poke people is a good thing. I'm just wondering how many of you out there have tried fencing before?

I put up a fence once...lol, just kidding. Havent ever seen any places to take fencing around my way. Sounds like it could be fun.

Yeah... I kinda got lucky that a fencing instructor moved to my town... There are clubs around. You'd probably have to do some reasearch on that though. It's really fun if you can get into it. Also, whenever I fence I have the sudden urge to go around yelling "Forsooth!" and other phrases like that.

I learned the art of fencing in high school, but havent picked up a sword since then.

I would love to give it a try, however I can not afford the lessons with my income (or lack there of lol)

Man if i had time to look for a school I might just do it. But im wrapped in more hand to hand combat than anything else.

That's cool too. I mostly got into fencing because I loved the movie "The princess bride" and I'm in a pirate phase right now.

Well, for a while I was an Amazon... then I realized that they usually burn off one of their breasts to make it easier to throw spears and stuff... and I wasn't about to that. I had so much fun on "talk like a pirate day." I dressed up for it and everything.

I took classes for a few weeks, but then I had to do mandatory overtime at work and I had to quit =( But it was fun tho!
