I'm thinking what is America going to think of this?
Maybe it's another reason we're leaving Europe? Crystal :rhubarb and with beans? And they struggled with my stuffed marrow |

Thinking I could have left this weekend since I'm only working through Sunday, the 1st on Labor Day weekend
On the other hand... I was given permission to use the guest amenities during that week, so lounging at the resort pools, getting a cabana, using the hot tub, and having others wait on me for a change sounds to me like a nice little 5 day vacation. Normally we are not allowed to use the guest amenities except on rare occasions. Plus I have a ton of cleaning and packing to do. |

I'm thinking what is America going to think of this? Maybe it's another reason we're leaving Europe? Crystal :rhubarb and with beans? And they struggled with my stuffed marrow You don't know that? It's yammie!!! I don't often eat rhubarb, in the past I ate a lot of apple sauce. Apple sauce with green beans, peas, red cabbage, beet root and so on. Great combination. I stopped doing that at some point though as eating fruit during a meal isn't so healthy. But every now and then I like to treat myself. Usually get apple & peach sauce or rhubarb. Small pot only. |

Don't think I'm picking on you crystal I love dutch people, but I couldn't eat a whole one Well, maybe with marmite and honey Oh dear... marmite Yes, funny in a way how different people's eating habits can be, isn't it? I remember my ex (British) being exalted with his pickled eggs from the UK, and other things in malt vinegar. But he was not allowed to put it on the table during dinner. The smell of malt vinegar -resembling horribly sweaty feet- made me wanna puke. Now I've NEVER forbidden a partner anything like that really, I'm not that kind of woman, haha, but that crossed a line I think maybe eating apple sauce and rhubarb with greens is also dependent on an area you're from, maybe even a family. I don't think my friends did at home. It's something from my mom's family I think. Thank goodness you don't eat Dutchies!! Those poor family in Arnhem!! Hahaha |

The first time I had mayo on chips was with the Dutch guy's on the ferry. I love it, also sweet and sour sauce on fish and chips! Branston pickle on egg sandwich |

The first time I had mayo on chips was with the Dutch guy's on the ferry. I love it, also sweet and sour sauce on fish and chips! Branston pickle on egg sandwich Out of those choices I stick to chips with mayo! Another thing I couldn't stomach were Cadbury eggs (with Easter my ex's mom used to send some over). WAY too sickly, hihi. I did however love all the different crisps in the UK! Salt & vinegar, shrimp, and whatnot! We always took heaps home, haha. And Brambley apple pies, those small ones.... Ahh! Joygasm to eat, couldn't get enough of those in the house, hihi. I scoffed most of them Decent English bacon -which ironically comes from Holland, so rather insane to have to get it back from the UK, lol. When it comes to many things I much prefer UK foods! Oh, and did I mention mint aero!? Mint Baileys.... the list goes on |

Ref the pickled eggs, that used to be a bar snack in the old days in the pubs! Yes, I've noticed your bacon is different! Pickled eggs in the pub? Great way to get people to go home hahahaha. If the entire pub stinks of malt vinegar, lol. Have you ever tried our bar snack bitterballen? Delicious!! Usually/traditionally served with mustard but I ask for mayo these days. You get some 8 or 12 balls, depending on the pub and price for a portion. |

Nice!
You know, I've never been to Arnhem, haha. English people always go there, and Amsterdam of course to the sex museum etc., but Arnhem for the bridge I guess. I've only been here, near Arnhem, but that was decades ago: The Netherlands Open Air Museum is a open-air museum located in Arnhem with antique houses, farms and factories from different parts of the Netherlands. It is a national museum focusing on the culture associated with the everyday lives of ordinary people |

Amsterdam is what you see is what you get. Lovely city though. arhnem have a week of celebration. All the schools get involved with marches and events. really heart warming, the bridge was and is the focal point but the whole town has relevance. It was the first point of the start of your liberation

It was the first point of the start of your liberation Was it? Go figure I don't remember that even, hihi. I did learn about it at elementary school, and some stories and things concerning WW2 stuck, but not all. Maybe because it was surrounded by horrific stories and suffering. I'm not so good with that. I remember many people starved during the last winter of war. Desperately tried to get to the south where I'm from as there were farms there. But most had already taken on lots of northerners and couldn't feed or harbour more. Some ate tulip bulbs to try and survive. That stuff I do remember learning. Maybe one day I'll visit Arnhem and the bridge. |

Thinking the storm is about to hit... Last night the winds were that of a tropical depression. It was awesome to watch over the water. It's brewing again out there, very cool coloring or the sky and water.
