I'm with you Motown; had a Triumph Trident and 50's something old school Panhead hardtail chopper long ago.
This is the first year since the mid 70's I haven't owned at least one H-D.

I like my crusty and dusty dirt bikes and 4x4. Not much speed or style or comfort, but have fun and go anywhere.

Built my first chopper at 17, Amen Savior frame, 38 deg
rake, 12" overstock springer, 21" front , 16" rear, 1972 Shovelhead, Andrews AB grind cam, 74 cu. in. Jockey shift with foot clutch.
No front brake, had drum brake on rear. 3 in. open belt primary, ratchet top 4 speed, my Grandfathers 1938 7" Indian Headlight, and a WW2 German bayonet and scabbard he brought back was welded to the sissy bar.......It was a rollin deathtrap, but I was hooked. All told, even parts, tags, and registration, I had less than 5 grand in it.
Kick only, of course.
Next was a 1978 80cu.in. FLH, Fat Bob tanks, 14" Apes, primo belt drive primary, kick only. Bought from a true brother for $3800
When I got out of the Navy, I bought a 79 FLH 80 cu.in, all full dress. Even had the shitty Harley cassette tape deck an AM/FM radio. I took a bus from Pennsylvania to Ohio to buy it from a VN vet. He told me to stop on the way and buy a case of PBR, I didnt ask why, just did it. He picks me up at bus station, takes me to his farm, he wont let me see the bike till the beers gone.....If I can kick it over in 5 or less kicks, I can buy it......2 prime kicks, TDC, hit the electric switch, she fired on 3rd kick.threw a leg over her, started raining like hell, rode her all the way back to PA in a turdfloater. Still have all 3
