I like little colorful birds, like canaries. I have a little different story.

My uncle raised homing pigeons that he raced. He hated cats. I happen to love cats. You can see the difference there.

My uncle gave my sister and I two white doves. They were solid white. They were male and female and reproduced. We gave away a couple of birds.

Cardinals and the story of them. It says they are loved one's passed and when you see one it's them visiting. I have them in my yard and I sit outside alot. I'm like the bird lady in Mary Poppins lol feed the birds. I also love watching the scissor tails they love picking on the dogs.

I used to watch the swifts flying inches above the ground, on the cricket ground in the village where I grew up. It's a shame there in decline.
Ive seen a pair of king fishers 6 or 7 times at a stream near home. Incredibly bright birds... Amazing.. |

I love birds. I have a cockatiel named Elena. In the past, I've had budgies, zebra finches, and penguin finches (markings like penguins). Love to get more but don't think my hubby will agree

@ Queenie, Cardinals are beautiful. I am a private caregiver. The husband of the lady I care for passed away suddenly last summer. Two or three days after his passing, she had this male cardinal visit her feeder and he hung around most of that day, and returned often in the days and weeks following. She wondered if it might be her husband's spirit letting her know that he was ok

Rockgnome, why are ravens your fav bird? In short, ravens have been connected to nearly every human culture, since time prehistoric, through mythologies and verbal history telling. No other bird has 'that' place in our history. Hardly any animal shares that place. |

I had budgerigars as pets, one at a time.
Compact, low maintenance, entertaining, and sociable. I could take them camping in national parks, (they are native species here), and they would ride on my shoulder on skateboard, pushbike, and bushwalking. Each one had a unique "personality". I clipped their wings a bit so they could barely fly, so they stayed near me, but the cage was left open and they had run of the house, and could feed and sleep whenever, or be with me. They liked to pester me when I ate, and eat off my plate. Some were affectionate, and some were more 'independent', but all wanted interaction. I would ask if they wanted to come in the car for a drive, or go outdoors with me, and they would decide. I had to be watchful of wild birds swooping them, cats, and some idiot humans. It's so sad when they die, or go missing. I miss them all. |

For the last year or so, I've had a couple of ducks that like to hang out in my driveway in the morning. It's kind of funny. I live near the river but not THAT NEAR the river. One time a duck flew up to sit in a tree in my yard. I didn't know they liked sitting in trees.

There is a small pond here in town where some ducks and geese hang out. I went to throw out some old popcorn and I got swarmed by them. I was in fear for my life!
