I have always been a fan of Black Metal and Death Metal. Being British, I gravitated to it. Was hoping to chat up those of you who love it as well. Bands I always listen to are: Deicide, Gorgoroth, Behemeth, God Destruction, Cannibal Corpse, Marduk, Watain, Abominator, Arkhon Infaustus, Goatwhore, Wolfpack 44, Vital Remains.By looking at the forums, it didn't seem like there was anyone else with the same music taste. Hopefully there are.

Years ago maybe no not anymore.
Dethmetal is depressing, its an extreme version of metal that has mortality as a focus.
Its a contradiction.

If someone is so depressed to be into dethmetal, an extreme sound is a plea for help. The louder the bigger the cry for help.

I've been at that limit.
I realized how wrong it was to how I was feeling.
Its like Black Sabbath songs about damnation, a plea for salvation.

Suicide is never the answer.
Once yer dead, there is no redo.
Ya can't just say oops.

Granted there are some really good songs with some really intense sound but you can get that from any music.
Its all in your mindset.

Let's put it this way, decent DM or BM is always on my agenda. Hail of Bullets, Darkthrone, Endstille, Eisregen, Dark Funeral, Immortal ... just to name a few. But the list is long

Bloody cool. I got to see Darkthrone in a concert in Cardiff. They were rad.Also got to see Dissections last gig befor Jon killed himself.

True. But I think its just differant personalities are drawn to a style of music based on culture, politics, etc. Punk I never liked when I was growing up...like so many of my mates did.It is depressive, but so is country...lol. A friend I had was into it. Halfway through that cd, I wanted to get a piss on.

Music is a personal expression.
Sharing your musical intrests here is how you do it.
It doesn't matter what it is you listen to.
Its which people respond and show interest in the music you share.

I nearly have a lil of everything cept rap.

If you like dethmetal and show your library, someone will find an interest.
Just realize, it might take awhile.

The most important thing you can do is be you.

Anyway back to topic...I've been listening to some Satyricon and Hypocrisy lately. I had some what of a late start into a lot of the DM/BM bands.

Hypocrisy are a killer on stage. Seen them at the 2004 Full of Hats festival, alongside Krisiun and Cannibal Corpse

And Satyricon? I guess you know the 'Mother North' video clip?

Rammstein? In trouble as usual. People say, they are mocking the Holocaust. In my opinion, they just have a crude sense of expression of arts. Sheer provocation by rude lyrics and video clips. I follow their career since the mid 90s now.

I've been a fan of Rammstein for a long time, and I will say the one thing that everyone seems to forget. Controversy causes publicity, and in the music business. Publicity is good, for it causes people to want to see what all the hoopla is about. Win win for a band.

Not yet. But they are not near Dublin
