Yes, I'm spring cleaning the kitchen cupboards... I found some unwanted guests

It's been raining a lot so the ants decided to come inside. I thought I got them all the other day but apparently they found a hiding spot in the back of the cupboard and were creating a nice little colony. I hate destroying nature but they are rather difficult to move. Hopefully the stuff I'm putting out will encourage them to stay away in the future. If not, I'll have to put out some ant poison.

I use cheap spray hairspray or deodorant, cheeper the better. it fouls up thier chemical communication mechanism, and clings.
they relocate pretty quickly. That is my top tip for ants. It works...
been busy getting the garden ready. There was a storm, blew out 4 or 5 greenhouse panes.

That sux, hopefully it didn't do any damage to the plants.

Hairspray is a good idea, I never thought about that. I'll have to get some next time I'm at the store. I got cayenne pepper after reading about it online... doesn't work, they just mosey around it and through it, haha.

They're just the common ants, but they aren't welcome in the house for obvious reasons. Best to get them under control now so the kitchen doesn't get over run with them.

A few years ago I had a little crystal/healing garden on a table in the backyard, a dragonfly ended up dying and landed on the table. Later I saw some ants try to carry it off so I put some dirt on the table and set the dragonfly on top of it. I watched over the next couple weeks while they built an anthill... quite amazing little creatures. Unfortunately it got destroy when a curious racoon rummaged through my garden. It was a cool experience. :)

What a thing:) Bet the ants were peeved with that.
you never see any dead ants with the hairspray, they just clear off.
I don't know if you watch films but it reminds me of a part animated film i saw a few years ago, called miniscule. a charming film, you would like it.

That's good, I prefer not to kill them... I just want them to stay outside.

I haven't seen Miniscule, I'll check into it. I've watched other animated movies, "Antz" was really cute.

Oh... no I don't imagine the ants were happy about the racoon, haha. Fortunately I had a brown bag cut open and laid out on the table so I was able to move them to the ground pretty easily.

It's many many times better than antz. In my veiw anyway.

I just watched the trailer on Youtube, haha... it looks really cute. I loved when the lady bug got the ones catching her to crash and then went back and stuck her tongue out at them, lol. I'll have to download it.
