My other thread "Have you ever felt undateable" prompted me to creating a new thread. Now that we have acknowledged that some of us do and some of us don't feel undateable, let's move past that and do something about it

I was having a conversation with someone about the importance of getting back to the basics and just having fun.. enjoying each other's company.

That almost seems like a foreign concept to me... almost because I have been practicing having fun over the last year, lol.

For whatever reason, not really necessary to go into details, the "play and have fun" part of me is suppressed. It doesn't come natural although as I practice that innate part inside is slowly coming to surface... I actually noticed a difference when I was visiting with my nephews, it wasn't quite so awkward playing childhood games with them... very cool feeling!

This concept reminded me of kindergarten, hahaha... I mentioned in my other thread wanting to return to my teenager/young adult years and experience that first date I missed out on.. Well maybe I need to go back a bit further... To kindergarten and simply play for now. A play date!

So who wants to go on a play date?

What are some of the things you do that help you to play and revive that playful nature we're all born with?

As you all know I'm a child at heart I have a mini who reminds me daily what being young was like. I love playing games with her and seeing everything through the eyes of a child #foreveryoung

When I was watching my nephews down in Florida they wanted to play with musical instruments. At first it felt so robotic to me, but then I loosened up and started really jamming with them, lol. It was fun!

Lol I didn't have a normal childhood like most. I've always loved children so playing is part of it. I've nephews with special needs who I play with often. And to be able to teach them things through play is amazing since play is sometimes diffrent for them.

Maybe it does just come naturally for some and not for others?

I'm actually more interested in learning how to play as an adult with other adults... of the male population, lol

But looking to the children and playing with children help in that respect. If you have difficulty relaxing and playing kid games, then playing adult games could be just as difficult. Letting that inner child out to play is a vital part of any relationship... not just between man and woman.

Oh, I like this thread! My idea of a play date is simple. Flirting, sexual tension, clever wordplay , and laughter.

I'm thinking that maybe this is a Taurus 'problem'? Because I'm experiencing very similar stuff to what you're saying. And Taurus is not the one to go initiate stuff and do things. Taurus will move when he gets aroused by external forces (other people?), good or bad.
Often with Taurus it's difficult to get moving and step over the threshold of something, yet once they get going, they're really going!
In a way, I'm like that. Like a locomotive, it takes time to get it going, but when it's up and running!! Try stopping it!
Stupid things is that I DO have a far more active, impulsive, fiery aspect: Venus in Aries, but that's the part that surfaces when IN a love relationship, so in that sense it gets triggered ONCE the locomotive has been set in motion.
I'm not certain which planet or house is about mingling, socializing? But when it comes to communication (Mercury), I'm Taurus too...

In short: I can enjoy fun & play and doing silly things but it always seems I need a sidekick to get me going, like you had your nephews to get you going. And then once you did, you let rip. That's what I'm like as well. So I'm thinking... a Taurus thing?

That's possible and makes sense Crystal, that's more what I said to Queenie about maybe it's just more natural with some than others.

Some jump in right away, others need their battery charged up a bit first. I'm more of the needing a little charge first and then full speed ahead and if I'm really enjoying what I'm doing, I don't want to stop, lol.

Unfortunately, I have found "play" to mean nookie to many people...

So, if someone would ask *me* about a "play date", "play time" or anything like that...it'd be a big 'ol NOPE.

I might be simple minded, but I don't look beyond enjoying the company. If you cannot connect on that level it is OVER. All the rest of the things that people bring to the table such as hopes, dreams, how many people you will invite to to the wedding, etc are best left for after you've made the connection.

It cannot be simpler to me. If I enjoy your company I want to spend time with you. Get me to laugh.
