It was on our local news and since it's us that will be voting, it doesn't matter how much people in other states want to claim it isn't true. We are a red state so the dems bullying didn't go over so well. Forced support is wrong. Using grades, jobs, etc to get support is wrong. Things like this shouldn't be taken lightly.

Things like this shouldn't be taken lightly. does your local news not have a website or links? actually they should take it lightly if no one is claiming anything except that they were encouraged to encourage kids to attend a school event , if you attended high school or college, you know that students are often encouraged by other students and sometimes faculty or teachers to to attend events that their school is hosting.. it is a non story really. |

Allen said a colleague repeatedly pressured her to offer extra credit to her students if they attended the rally. She finally gave in and sent an email that said in part: They would like a really big turnout and "to help out" she was offering extra credit. The associate professor said her email was poorly worded and she meant to suggest the student organization sponsoring the event wanted a big turnout, not the Abrams' camp. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/clayton-county/professor-says-she-was-pressured-to-offer-extra-credit-for-students-to-attend-rally/862576025 wsbtv two days ago Allen told Winne that the public has been left with a false image of her as a left-wing academic, largely because of a statement the university put out about her and a controversy involving a rally on campus for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren. “I lean more towards the right. I am not a Stacey Abrams supporter,” Allen told Winne. I’m sure you’ve heard by now that the Abrams campaign along with Senator Warren are visiting campus tomorrow at 10 am in the UC commons. They would like a really big turnout. To help out I’m offering the following opportunity: If you attend, take a selfie of you at the events, and upload a pic to the folder I’m creating in D2L, I’ll add 2 bonus points to your final grade.” The university sent an emailed statement to the news station that said it just became aware that extra credit was being offered, and that “university administrators have advised the professor that extra credit should be offered on an equal basis to those participating in events by all political parties.” Allen could not be reached by Channel 2 for comment, but the Clayton State email also said: “The professor acknowledges she had made a mistake and agreed to fix it by offering extra credit for all political events.” The university also said it does not provide support to political candidates or parties. The Abrams’ campaign sent a statement to Channel 2 that said, in part: “Our team did not suggest to this or any professor that extra credit should be offered to students.” http://www.wsbradio.com/news/crime--law/university-professor-offered-extra-credit-for-students-who-attended-abrams-event/HngYfQdtofY2aCEz1YfxiL/ still nothing about the school or camp pressuring teachers, just one email sent by one teacher who stated that one colleague pressured her and that it was for turnout to a school event, not partisan support of anyone. |

You left out the pressured student who wanted extra credit but we're republicans and extra credit was only offered for Stacy Abrams rally. That ONE teacher was taking a lot of crap and wanted to make it clear she is a Republican and the extra credit she offered was because of pressure. I'm sure no other teachers were pressured.

I'm sure no other teachers were pressured. well, Im sure that noone else REPORTED that the abrams camp or the school pressured them ...lol I purposely used someone else's claimed source to double check, and came to the SAME story I posted previously. Nothing left out, and nothing ADDED. |

Why was it on the news?

Why was it on the news? the sources YOU provided can make that clear. The poorly worded email (the teacher's own words) was ambiguous enough to make it SEEM like a teacher was giving extra credit in support of a specific political affiliation, when what she was doing(again, in her own words) was giving extra credit for students to attend a rally being held by the school. |

The students wouldn't have been upset if they could have chosen dem or republican rally but it's was Stacy Abrams only. They were all pressured. Ms Allen got caught in the middle.
Me Allen wouldn't have made it clear on the news that she is a Republican if the pressure for a better grade hadn't been tied to a democrats rally. |
