I have no idea who Jones is but I don't like censorship. When does the book burning begin?

Twitter is a company. It has the right to censor anything it wants on its platform. Unless the American taxpayer starts footing Twitter's costs, we have no say in what they censor.
they're all privately owned companies... This guy's response sums it all up...

Twitter permanently bans Alex Jones, Infowars citing abuse.

Twitter is permanently banning right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his "Infowars" show for abusive behavior.

To me, it's good to hear of this. This guy is the leader of the tinfoil hat brigade and one of the biggest spewers of the hate, lies, and misinformation. Next to Trump, this guy is the definition of "Fake News".

ya know, the only reason I came in here is to see how long it took before the hate started....the first post...whoa

I don't know what makes people think they have free speech on everything. You don't, and you never have.

Go to your employer and tell them that you believe the company is a sorry place to work. Tell your employer why you feel that way. Watch how fast your now X employer shows you the door.

Walk into your local police station and cuss out a cop. Watch how fast your butt gets a free overnight stay in the gray bar motel.

I've listened to Jones show several times. The 5 or 6 times I listened to his vile spew, I could shoot down every point he tried to make. Most everything he would say was the same lies and half-truths that I see here many times.

But the scary part was reading the comments. There are people out there that are so weak minded and full of hate. A lot of the comments I read were violent. Some talked about killing "lib's". At first, I didn't want to believe it.

I thought it was a joke. Then I realized this was no joke. Many of his followers would talk about killing "lib's". Simply because they don't see things the way they do. That particular time Jones was talking about the liberals being a "disease" that needed to be eradicated from the face of the earth.

You may as well say that he was telling his weak-minded, tinfoil hat wearing listeners that it would be OK to kill libs.

It's not OK to kill anyone. For any reason. It's not even good to joke about it. I'm sure I'm not the only one that reported the comments.

that is bad i agree, and i never seen any of that
but shutting the guy down , does still not solve the problem

it's like with guns , the problem isn't the gun , its the one doing the killing, if someone wants to take someone out , they will, just another way (next they will be taking away steak knife's)
<shrug>
oh and they don't wear tin foil hats any more , but i might save that for another thread

To a degree, I agree with you. But, on the other hand, They may not be able to take his voice away. But they can take the platform. Which is exactly what they did. And should have done long ago.

But, on the other hand, people like him will find a way to get there spew out. As long as his tongue still works, (the loaded gun) he will find an ear that will listen. He will find another way to incite other people.

We all can choose a platform or create our own, we cant tell others what to accept or not accept on the platform THEY create though.

simple.

Twitter stock is down 12% during the past couple of days. Supposedly due to fears of regulation.

Nobody forced anyone to listen to this guy. Nobody made anyone Stare at his tweets and read them
It's not like he stood in a stadium and forced his opinion you ...and his coworkers and his boss.

Now. That would be wrong.. right?

So let's just change the constitution to

Freedom of speech...(but only if we agree)

But I do wonder how the people who feel that members of the military deserve more respect from the athletic apparel company can swallow President Trump's well-documented slights of servicemembers who have sacrificed the most.

so once again folks ..

If CONGRESS passes no law abridging anyone's speech, this has nothing to do with what a website decides to include or not include on its (paid for) bandwidth.

What about t.v air space or a stadium that someone else paid for. Is it o.K to voice your freedom of speech there?

The First Amendment text reads: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

to rephrase that question ,, its okay to 'voice your freedom of speech" anywhere as far as law and congress is concerned and as long as it does not invoke danger/violence.

it is not okay however to say or do what is outside of a contract that you agree to say or do, employment or website.

if the air space or stadium has your Agreement to abide by certain standards regarding what you can say or do, abide by them or choose someplace else.

IF you choose to agree to those terms, and you are not violating THOSE TERMS, you should not be banned from participation.

It was the people in the comment section taking what he said literally. He said, "All "libtards" as he called them should be eradicated from the face of the earth". "They are a disease". That's all some people need.

Think of it in a Charles Manson kinda way. He believed that the Beatles song, "Helter Skelter" meant to start a race war and kill people.

http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/charles-manson-how-cult-leaders-twisted-beatles-obsession-inspired-family-murders-107176/

But we all know within reason that the Beatles had nothing to do with it. It was just Manson's twisted mind.

But you take someone like Alex Jones who spews hate at every chance, he's doing it to rile up people. He brings out the weak minded and the full of hate. He throws it all in the pot and sets it on boil. Then throw in some all-out lies and half-truths.

He, on his own, is one of the causes of the split between American people. And mostly with misinformation.

as okay as it is for you to call it 'spin' because it doesnt fit YOUR AGENDA whoa

its 'okay' if its not in violation of an AGREEMENT that has been accepted on both sides, or a contract that both sides signed. Quite simple. No spin, just logic.
