I saw her
across the street
so far away
yet so very close

My feet
would not move
and my voice had abandoned me
so all I could do
was watch her
walk away

Panic stricken
I imagined every possible
possibility
from me some how
catching up to her
to me
never seeing her again
and everything between

Come on legs
move
give chase
mouth, come on
say something
don't let her get away

Yet there she went
one step
after another until she was too far away
it was as if
she were saying goodbye
for forever as my hopes faded
into the reality
that I am so very shy
