This table compares the two sets of commandments given in the Book of Exodus. It should be noted, however, that in Exodus 34:28 the set given in Exodus 34:12-26 is identified as the real ten commandments.
EXODUS 34:12:26 1. Make no covenant with the people where thou goest. 2. Thou shall not worship any other god. 3. Thou shall not make any molten gods. 4. The feast of unleavened bread shall thou keep. 5. The first offspring from every womb belongs to me. 6. Rest on the seventh day. 7. Observe the feast of weeks. 8. Thou shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven. 9. The first of the fruits of thy land belong to me. 10. Thou shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk EXODUS 20:3-17 1. Thou shall have no other gods before me. 2. Thou shall not make thee any graven images. 3. Thou shall not take the name of the Lord in vain. 4. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. 5. Honor thy father and mother that you may live long. 6. Thou shall not kill. 7. Thou shall not commit adultery. 8. Thou shall not steal. 9. Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor. 10. Thou shall not covet. seems that the differences are night & day... example: nothing mentioned about "thou shall not kill" in the ORIGINAL version G*d's version wasn't written as well as the human "authorities" version?? seems that humans wrote the Commandments better than G*D?...so G*D is not perfect?? Amen |

Thou shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk The way I see it 20 comes before 34. While the Common Ten Commandments (EXODUS 20) are written for mankind in general. The Second set of Commandments (EXODUS 34) seem to be aimed at a select group of people. Specifically those alive during the Exodus. The laws are relative to two distinct groups of people. Both sets have validity issues but those issues are not the topic of the thread. |
