Topic: America wins again. | |

With President Trumps nomination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh as newest scotus many will say Conservatives win again, but I say America wins. Kavanaugh will interpret the law according to the constitution not on his own beliefs. We have governed this way for 242 years .and with this pick our democracy will be protected for the next 30 years or so. This may be the best of all of Trumps accomplishments . It's sure to " Keep America Great" for many years.

I think Trump made a good nomination Choice. Let's hope it goes through I watched it on tv yesterday and he is well qualified. I found the opposition rather odd. By the end of the presidents presentation they were all displaying anti-Kavanaugh signs. "How did they design, print and distribute those so fast"? The opposition had to have printed out protest signs for all four of the candidates. So open minded of them!. We, in Indiana, were hoping for the lady that was on the list. She graduated from and served as a law professor from Notre Dame University (10 miles from where I live). |

I was hoping he would nominate the lady also.

I didn't know about the list . I was for anyone that would not have a libral mindset.! |

Liberals were never accused of being bright. |

Some were armed with sharpies. They wrote in the name after it was announced. Some had all three names printed, then discarded the ones that didn't get named.
What I find amusing, is that these are the ecologists." Mustn't waste a thing!" So what will they do with their rejects? Send 'em to Africa so that the little impoverished kids can carry them around, I guess. |

When it comes to serving in public office I could care less about race or gender. It's what they believe and stand for that sways my interest. |

Amy Coney Barrett is still in line for a supreme court appointment if another opens up. Brett Kavanaugh was on Trump's short list When Neil Gorsuch was appointed.
Ruth Bader Ginsberg is currently 85, and Steven Breyer is 79. With Ginsberg's hate of Trump, my guess is that she'll croak first, rather than retire. You really can't say when she might. People speculated that hillary wasn't in the best of health, yet she's still around to make excuses. General rule of thumb- Those you expect to go, live forever. Those who you don't, suddenly keel over.(And bitter old ladies just hang on to aggravate the daylights out of everyone) |

This thread is only a few days old to show the positive steps taken by President Trump to restore integrity back to our government and to the institution of our democracy . After nominating a solid constitutionalist to the Supreme Court , a major win for our country. Now he's gone and with a little blunt but straight talk he's got members of NATO to up their anti and that adds up to about 40 billion in defense for the northern alliance . Just 48 hrs ago the liberals were talking about the end of the world and that the sky is falling. It's time to take off your chicken little outfits and join the rest of us determined to help President Trump Keep America Great.

Think how Many thousands want him out of office! Sad |

The idea that a Supreme Court Justice either "interprets the law according to the Constitution" or they don't, has always been a mistake. Mainly because too many people wildly over-simplify what it actually means to do that.
Reality is far more complex and subtle than that. The Constitution is a collection of mostly very general statements, not a list of narrow specifics, that anyone can read and say (especially after 1789) means exactly one thing and nothing else. It is in the nature of the rule of law itself, for that matter, that people are at the mercy of the way words were written at the time that a law is passed, more than they are served by the INTENTIONS of the people who wrote them. Some classic examples, are that according to a totally dry reading of the Constitution, which assumes (as some claim to want) that the Federal Government only be allowed to do specifically what is said that is can do, and not one thing more, there would have been no Louisiana Purchase, no interstate highway system, no exploration of Space, no international communications systems, and on and on. ALL of those things and vastly more, are the result of all sorts of people interpreting the Constitution entirely differently than a word-for-word reading permits. |
