Or he could have sent a stunt double to the hotel. That way it would be the stunt double who got their a*s kicked and then robbed. Worst case the stunt double gets laid and OP is out.

Being a Navy man, everytime ship hit a port for liberty we were required to attend liberty briefings. This was back in the 1980s, internet and personal phones didn't exist.

We were told to be wary of any woman promising anything to get you to leave your group and go it alone. It seems even in person, you shouldn't trust someone completely that you don't know. Lots of stories about sailors getting rolled when they picked up a woman. They instituted the liberty 'buddy' system and while it was kinda restrictive it kept us safe (I have waited in the wings while my buddy got laid before so it wasn't as restrictive as you might think).

The important thing is the understanding that unless you know that person well, you can never be sure, so be prepared to fight or flee.

Now, in the days of internet and online promises you just gotta remember that you probably won't get that free ipod. If you even get an ipod, it certainly won't be free. If its too good to be true, it probably isn't true at all.

I encourage my dates to call someone to tell them where she will be and my address. If I go to a date's house, I let someone know where I'll be.

Seriously

In this day and age you never meet anyone for the first time in a place like a hotel room.. never.

Does any guy actually think it falls in your lap that easy?

If I am going to meet a woman for the first time I ask her to pick a restaurant of HER choice so she feels safe and comfortable.

Motels are a good place for a first meet / first date.

It provides insight as to if the sex is good enough
to justify the time and effort on a second meet / second
date.
