Help your tree smell like it was just cut. Make a mixture of 1 cup water with 6 drops of essential oil of Pine, NOT purfumed oil, but rather pure essential oil. Use this to spray the tree. Or put a few drops of the essential Pine oil on a cloth and tuck this around the base of the tree.

that is a good idea, the last few trees I've bought (to do my part for deforestation and global warming) haven't had any smell to them!drinker

Better still use an artificial tree for years to come to avoid cutting trees

how do you plant a tree that has been cut down?

serious question, as there are no roots.

You can purchase Christmas Trees with the root ball still attached and wrapped in burlap .

or you can dump it in the lake when you're done using it (after you removed the decorations)and give fish a new habitat.that's what i do

I have heard of people doing that but depending on the water source I would contact a state agency because the decomposing trees have been know to cause problems with some fish types and other wildlife....and depending what water source you might be doing more harm than good...best to double check IMO.....

to be honest,i had never thought about that before until you mentioned it.Thanks for pointing that out.

but also,if you give your tree to the fish & game to recycle, they also put them in lakes or ponds for habitat.so i dunno,i guess it's best to donate it to them and let them decide

Yup, here we have a drop off place just for your old Christmas trees. They put them in the area lakes in different spots every year to use as breeders. Works out for everyone, including the fishies.

Artificial tree?sad I always go to a tree farm and get a tree . Tree farms have live trees and or you can cut a really fresh tree there. Best place imo is buy from the guy who grows the tree on his farm. You not only help him make a living but every time you buy a tree from them they plant another tree to take its place. Tree farmers with your help can help the ecosystembigsmile
