Topic: Most members not on for a month | |

I notice that most members have "not been seen for a month."
Is this a way in which mingle forces you to register as a paid member? I honestly think the system is not set up to get free replies ... unless you pay as a registered person. I never get a reply from anyone. Please reply with honesty. |

The upgrade has nothing to do with it. They see the same profiles.
Upgrading, also, guarantee replies. Just skip over those profiles And, yes, members can email for free |

Yeah I agree, lots of members register and then forget about their account OR they had found someone special already and are living happily ever after.
Join us in the forums and meet the Mingle2 community. Most of the regular posters are here everyday. No reply is a reply... not interested. so just move on and be patient. Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search |

How do I find out when a person last logged in?
So I don't waste my time emailing those men! |

One trick I found is to click on somebody in an area you're interested in. That account may be stale but at the top of the page is a "people near" section, and from what I've seen those people all seem to be current. There are only a few of them and I'm not sure why it works.
I think from a programming standpoint it would be simple to run a daily process that moves inactive people into their own area. And another that looks through inactives and moves them back if there's been any activity. The inactive percentage may vary by area but it's probably at least 75% where I am, very discouraging. To the original poster: I do get replies as a free member, so that's not it. |

I think you will find this occurs at any free dating site.
As far as website marketing, it pays off to have a large member base. The more members to choose from the more click revenue that is generated. If only the active current members were available there would be far less profiles to search and its the searching that generates the money to pay for the site. As for finding matches in your specific area, its probably best to use more than one dating site. You will sometimes find the same person at multiple sites and notice that they are active more at one or another but usually not more than 2 sites at a time. So, if you find them here and they have not been seen in a month, you might find them at another site where they are currently online...and vice-versa. Also, some don't hang out on a site. They rely on email notifications to let them know someone is interested, then they come log-in to look. Ultimately it is up to the one you are contacting as to whether they reply to you or not. That's why its best to actually say something with substance that peaks their interest. |

I think a lot of people are impatient. They sign on and after a day feel it's not working, and don't do anything.
