Topic: Whats your favorite bible quote | |
---|---|
Meanwhile, the LORD instructed one of the group of prophets to say to another man, "Strike me!" But the man refused to strike the prophet. Then the prophet told him, "Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, a lion will kill you as soon as you leave me." And sure enough, when he had gone, a lion attacked and killed him. (1 Kings 20:35-36 NLT) Did you contine reading? When we read books, we read the whole thing, becasue when you read bits and pieces it doesnt make much sence. Previously in your quote he talks about FALSE PROPHETS... |

I think this is just about your favorite bible quotes. I like to read a little deeper then the cookie cutter ones. |
I agree, but you intentions of this are not pure, Your intentions from my breif interaction with you are around criticizing the bible. From that understanding you have portrayed to me, i came up with my response to your quote.
Somtimes you find the real answers if you back up a few pages and continue from there. Or read ahead a few, it begins to make sence. Like in a book for example. |

How could the one true word of God criticize itself? |
Becasue your quoting a selections. And from this your forming your opinions. This i believe you agree is not the way to do it.. Im not directing this at what your quoting. Moreless at what your not quoting.

yes exactly, now your with me! why doesn't this stuff ever get quoted? |
Because we dont understand it.. God mentions that not everything he says we as humans can understand. Or even begin to fathom, becasue if we did, 1 would we need God? 2. Wouldnt we be god?
We take quotes from what makes sence in the bible. Love is patience is one of my favorites.. The one about judging people. I agree that some of the bible isnt 100% clear but then again, it is too deep for me to understand. I can only assume. However in time we will realize the purpose of everything Does this help? |

why do you assume you misunderstand my very clear quotes but understand the others. If you are not sure of the meaning you may be off on the ones you think you know. For instance the people that were most upset with Jesus were the religious ones. When I read the quotes that are so often put up I think they usually apply to the poster that that is trying to point fingers. Jesus was against the established religion and like it or not you are in the established religion of this place and time. |
I understand them, but to go deep on those quotes i cannot. understanding is very basic and if you are trying to understand the bible this will do you no good.
Im saying i dont have all the answers becasue i dont know all the answers. // Jesus was against the established religion and like it or not you are in the established religion of this place and time. // Define established and how do you know if i am in one? |

If you didn't notice we live in a Christian country. Christianity is a force that is everywhere in the USA. I know you are part of it by your actions and words. |
this will be suprised with you but i agree. I dont think we should force religion on anyone and should be discouraged. Gods intentions is not to make people believe in him, to believe must come from within.
This should not be forced and i too at one time did not believe in God, believe it or not.. |

Rabbit, don't toy with the meek and faithful.
Arbitrary misquoting a neighbor as a prophet of the LORD entitles you to folly. Is it necessary to verbally slap a man that would befriend you because he is unequipped to prevent your rudeness with discernment? Should you choose to do so in the face of an equally equipped man you should be certain of your embarrassment. Why assume no less here? Is it because your reward is delayed? I assure you the time is now to correct your insult. Your reward can wait, otherwise. |

JSH is no place to harbor ill will.
It certainly is not the venue for twisted humor only meant to delight yourself with personal joy at the deception and trap you seek. Certainly the praise of scoffers is to be had, but championing their cause with lies is wickedness. Be present with a man when you deceive him. Don't hide yourself behind electronic fences. Cowardice is as cowardice does. |

What has happened to you wouldee??!!?? Me and Kalamazoo had a very measured conversation that never got into name calling like you want to do here. I will say it clearly for you. I hope to lead people to the light of reason with my input. You hope to lead them to the joy you find in God. You find your cause more noble and self righteous then mine? so be it. It is your opinion. But I personally think that people like me do a better service to society then you ever could. So you go ahead and post your beliefs and I will post mine. If you think you can bully me from that I can only say that is a silly pursuit. |

If you think you can bully me from that I can only say that is a silly pursuit. I'm not competing with you. I'm reminding you of misquoting in selective strife. You obviously browse parallel text, not for understanding but for controversy. I call out your game as a ploy to deceive. I see your interest in propogating confusion and distraction ; Not genuine sincerity. Quit playiing in this thread as though you are some high and mighty sage with the wisdom of the universe and step out. Your follishness is in bad taste. Your manners are lacking. Your posts are annoying. And I am bold enough to point out your ill to you. Get the drift ? I'm sure you do ! ! What has HAPPENED to you , Rabbit????????? |

Explain to me wouldee how my posts directly from the bible are out of place here? You on the other hand have posted nothing on the subject. |

But to humor your inquiry to the quote you stumble at....
The neighbor that feared the Lord, obeyed the prophet's request in straight forward Jewish tradition . The neighbor that refused to obey, was dead in his indifference anyway. His death at a lion's charge was not predicted without purpose and not upon shortening a life that was already dead : But rather a demonstration of the coming out of an anointing from God to be comprehended and remembered from then on as a message divinely inspired by one with an ear to hear the voice and will of God for man. The symbolism of the lion is to further purpose recognition of the coming of the Messiah, as he was regarded the "lion of the tribe of Juda". Put to rest the folly. I have lent your foolishness to the education of others. Hope you don't mind the use of ill for the purposes of health. The golden rule in play, Rabbit. |

I must point out that this thread is about your favorite bible quotes. Did you come into this thread for some other reason?
Still no quote from you 25 In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit came and fell at his feet. 26 The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter. 27 "First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." Mark 7:25-27 |
