Topic: Vick's finally getting sentenced!! | |
---|---|
Vick likely to get at least 18 months ROB BECKER / Special to FOXSports.com Posted: 4 hours ago Michael Vick's plea bargain — like those of his two co-defendants who were sentenced Friday — states that the government will recommend to the judge that he be given a sentence "at the low end of the applicable guideline range." The key revelation in court Friday was that, despite the government's recommendation of the low end of the range for Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips, Judge Henry Hudson stated that the high end of the range was appropriate because of the "cruel" nature of their dogfighting activities. The "applicable guideline range" for Peace was 12-18 months, just as it is for Vick, and Peace was sentenced to 18 months. (Phillips' range was higher because of the nature of his criminal record.) Since Vick is accused of committing essentially the same crime as Peace, Judge Hudson will inevitably sentence Vick to at least the high end of that range — 18 months. But I say "at least" 18 months because things may go worse for Vick. Remember, the "guidelines" are just that: guidelines. The only real limitation on the sentence the judge will give Vick is the 5-year maximum mandated by Congress. And while the government will not recommend that Vick be treated as the leader of the dogfighting enterprise, the judge may nevertheless decide that, based on the facts to which Vick stipulated in his plea bargain, he should be treated as the leader. If he is treated as the leader, the guidelines call for a sentence of 21-27 months. So I think a two-year sentence is still very much within the realm of possibility for Vick, maybe even 27 months, particularly when you consider that Vick was the last of the four defendants to agree to a plea bargain. And you can bet the ranch he won't get less than 18. Since Vick started serving his sentence on November 19, the difference between serving 18 months and 2 years is the difference between resuming his career in 2009 — when he'll be 29 — and resuming it in 2010 as a 30-year old. And that's assuming someone wants him and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell doesn't suspend him — which is assuming a lot. |

Hope they hit him hard. He is (hopefully was) a role model for a lot of people. Plus there has been a lot of bad news recently about celebrities and people with a lot of money getting off easier then a "normal" person would in the same circumstance.

good! im glad he's going to jail for what he did.
funny thing happened at school today..true story..one of my students had a book on NFL quarterbacks from last year in his desk. we were looking at it and another student said "michael vick is in jail." another boy exclaims "yeah! he's worse than michael jackson" and resuming football at 30? 30 in football years is like 62 isnt it? lol |

I still think he should have to drive one of those rendering trucks that pick up the dead bloated rotting animals at the dairies & road kill..

i feel bad for him.i know what he did was wrong.people kill people and have got a less sentence. it was only a dog. we put them to sleep because they dont have a home.
they give them thirty days to do what that can to convince some family to save their life.so the time dont fit the crime.just think what does it take to make an elephant ride a bike. bears, monkeys and others.do they just ask them |

OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH PLEASE!!!
Do you realize how lame that sounds??? there is a big differnce between giving a dog a shot of phynobarbitol(sp) & it going to sleep peacefully & hanging them & torturing them.. Or beating them to death in from of the other dogs. Do your homework before you make retarded remarks. |

They should do to Vick exactly what he did to those dogs. Beat and torture the crap out of him until he dies.

goofy, I don't know about the death penalty but he should do more time than he is going to, we all know if it was one of us doing it, we would see way more time than he will. But such is the life of a celebrity.

Then we would be just as sick. So the grosses thing I could think of was picking up the dead.
I've hauled dead horses to those plants & it is the grosses smell & the bloated oozing bodies. OMG! |

Dragoness...it is not my intention to offend anyone with my comments on this, but I am a huge advocate of animal rights and I absolutely cannot stand it when animals are abused, tortured or neglected. I just cannot and will not tolerate it at all. It is the one thing in the world that makes me angrier than anything.
