There is no test for it even thoug it is an std
Which is an upsetting situation when you though your sex life was safe. Any experiences, exposure to a situation where you met someone? |

Nope. I s'pose I got lucky when I was young. I've been a serial monogamist for the past 28 years, and I'm with "the one" for almost six years now. I AM SAFE.

Hi petal ... that is not exactly correct .. for women a Pap smear or cervical biopsy can detect the hpv virus .. men are not so lucky ., there is no routine screening for them unless they are being investigated for symptoms . There are now also vaccinations against some of the leading hov strains, which young adults are encouraged to consider having before they become sexually active . Unfortunately there are at least 150 different strains of hov and the vaccine does not protect against all subgroups . The difficulty with this virus is that for many there are no symptoms initially.. it can lie dormant for many many years . It does not require multiple sexual partners .. just exposure to one person infected .. penetration is not required it can be passed on through touch and kissing . Many will remain symptom free until later in life ( over 40y) when they may present with early stages of cancer .. as aside from genital warts ( oral cancer .. cervical cancer and cancers of the reproductive tract can be caused by cellular damage initiated by this virus ) There are certain behaviours linked to hov exposure ... Smoking and excessive alcohol intake Multiple sex partners or sex with a person infected with hov Unprotected sex Oral and **** sex Lowered immunity Oral/ genutal tears abrasions, ulcers etc Interestingly ... Men appear to be infected more than women ...and black men and same sex males appear to be more at risk . Hov is definitely more common than you think . Apart from those with the genital wart strain .. most others will only find out they have it when they are being screened / tested for cancer . As always .. be knowledgeable and protect yourself and those you share intimacy with . Love blondey This is the vaccin they came up with about 10 years ago, right? I remember my daughter getting notification, she was around 14 at the time. I thought it was said vaccination was pointless for adults, only teenage girls got notification. Then there was a lot of to-do around it and many chose to not get it. Now there's proof that many of the girls who did get the shot have problems, I believe mostly infertility? That's this one, isn't it? In any case... touch can pass on the virus? Wouldn't that mean you could even get it from anyone, like your aunt kissing you on the cheek when she visits? Isn't it the case that yes, it is found in tears/saliva, but in very tiny amounts? I believe that is the case with some other STDs too? Or Hepatitis (c?) Gosh, my medical knowledge is really down the drain, haha. So not asking questions to question you. Just that you seem to know all the ins and outs of this. |

Was all the hoopla over sex ed in school pointless? The only safe sex is abstinence. Anything else simply reduces the risk for STD's or pregnancy. Not completely remove them. I knew a woman that had tubal ligation done that got pregnant by a guy who had a vasectomy. They already had 5 kids and didn't want more. Condoms fail, some doctors got C's, body chemistry and structure changes, it's a dirty world. People like to believe they live in a sterile bubble. They bathe with perfumed soaps, they wash their clothes, they disinfect their homes, they carry hand sanitizer, whatever. It's an illusion for a false sense of security. At any point in time you have fecal matter floating through the air. You have bacteria, and microscopic flora and fauna ranging all over you, inside your gut, your mouth, outside on your skin. It seems a lot of people don't understand that they're constantly "sick," just not to the point where it significantly influences their life negatively. Symptoms of sickness are simply when the immune system has to work harder than normal to kill and/or expel something. Your immune system is constantly fighting something. It's always on. It's not dormant and then something out of the ordinary happens, it turns on, then you get sick trying to fight whatever it is. It's always on. It's always working. You are always under attack by something you've come into contact with and/or is trying to live in/on you. Any experiences, exposure to a situation where you met someone?
IME being aware they have an STD form of HPV causing things like genital warts tends to either create massive insecurities, esteem, and trust issue problems, or people hide behind it to manipulate control of relationships. IME with meeting people with an STD form of HPV they've always allowed the label/stigma to define them, one way or another. Many times while demanding people don't define them by the label. I don't know if I've ever known or been with someone who hasn't known they had an STD type of HPV. In any case... touch can pass on the virus?
If you've ever gotten a wart on your finger, or foot, you've been infected by HPV. As was said there are at least 100 types of HPV. Not all lead to genital warts. Not all lead to cancer. Wouldn't that mean you could even get it from anyone, like your aunt kissing you on the cheek when she visits?
Any skin to skin contact can potentially spread some type of HPV. |

This has been out since I was younger and told I had it ... and should go home and talk to my x ... I was not having personal relations with anyone else ... and I know where they got it ... I came out alright ... but they did not have the vaccine back then ... now hard to tell lots of side effects come with it... hard choice ... but be safe and if you want to heal ... I am with others safe sex ...this is what condoms are for to help with not catching something ... know not always full proof but better then nothing or obscenity ... |
