I stayed home and sat in my yard. It did not get as dark as I thought it would. So many, many cars driving by, since I live on a highway. I went into my town because I had an appointment. I timed it perfectly to miss everyone getting out of town. While on Main street, people were trying to make an extra lane. I was heading back to my house pretty quick but the other lane, going north, was jammed for at least 2 miles. Where I live, that's saying a lot.

Y'all know its just a shadow, right?
The only thing it signifies is that the Moon is just the right size and distance that it 'appears' to cover the Sun.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon gets between Earth and the sun, and the moon casts a shadow over Earth. A solar eclipse can only take place at the phase of new moon, when the moon passes directly between the sun and Earth and its shadows fall upon Earth's surface.

I wasn't able to zoom them like I wanted, but here are the photos Mikey

About 20 minutes after it started here

Half way to max coverage for here

And 80% coverage

I had the photos in my profile for viewing but they were taken out...didn't know it was against the rules. So they aren't available for viewing online anymore. ohwell

Thanks coolchic, I'll put them on another online resource and repost the images here tomorrow. They're just amateur photos, but kind of cool.

Edit....I was just approved to have them as secondary photos in my profile, how cool is that....thanks Mingle!

Coolchic, I'll post them after this post happy

I went to bed about that time ... did not even look ...
just down and tired ...
thought it would make it little darker...
but know... still a lot of sun shining through the eclipse...
so it wouldn't be ...
I heard ...

Yeah, here it stayed light. It did get less bright though, like clouds covered the sun, only there weren't any clouds.

Where my sister went in South Carolina, there was 100% coverage and it got a lot darker, like twilight time.

Her boyfriend got down on his knee and proposed to her and as she said yes, the big diamond in the sky appeared as the moon moved away from the sun. He had planned it that way, wanted to give her a unique diamond...so romantic! love

Is your sister older or younger than you?

She's two years older. We get along pretty good, most of the time. We live under the same roof, so sometimes it's a little too close for comfort. But she's a great sister.

She and her boyfriend have been together for a little over two years. They haven't set a date yet, but I imagine it will be within a few months.

Do you have siblings?

Edit...typo

good to hear Pisces. I have 3 older brothers and we are not too close. My sister is 2 years older than me and we are close.

That's nice that you and your sister are close. I have a younger brother too, but we're not that close. He's a year younger.
