I read an article (don't know hoe true it is) saying that a lot of soldiers were buried without grave markers, etc and were forgotten. Some group raised money (back in the day) and put up these monuments as a general grave marker to those who died. I do think a lot of this is getting way out of hand Yes, if I recall they did ,we were taught it in history but it was a long time ago. I'm waiting for someone in America to want the statue of liberty removed because the French used slaves! Thanks for the comment yellowrose. And yes, I've said before, how far do you go back? And yes, it's getting out of hand. |

Why do you think it's suddenly become a problem?
Is it just another form of wanting to mess up the country like they do here? Just amazes me, these people can do this but if they saw a starving person they'd walk on by! |

When Trump was elected, college kids needed play doh etc. Now this. Why didn't this bs happen before? |

I think for here at least it's a opposition thing, ok left, they like to upset everything so as to cause as many problems for the government as possible. There are always more strikes from civil servants (government employees ) the unions love it! Any disruption is blamed on the present government! Plus it's a way of embarrassing the government in front of the world stage!

It's just coming to surface now that we have a President who speaks his mind no matter what and opening talks about getting rid of anything that stands in the way of change, imo. So now it's kind of like "Follow the Leader". Someone sees somebody do what they've wanted to do, and it somehow gives them the okay to do it themselves. Especially if the person they are following is in a Publicly high status. It's not right and is messed up, but it seems to be how it goes most of the time. I agree with both you and Mikey, it's getting really out of hand to the point of ridiculous. |

It's like you never hear about the guy or company who employes a few hundred people unless he gets rid of one ! |

Yes, and it's kind of like someone who has a desire to jump off a cliff into a very inviting looking lake. They want to but are afraid. They see someone else do it and know now it's safe to do so, so they too jump. In the crazy minds of some of these people, they may feel it's now "safe" to do this, or speak out, because after all, the President does. I'm not saying it's Trumps fault or that he's to blame...each person is responsible for their own behavior. I'm just saying maybe the "Follow the Leader" thing is coming into to play. |

Maybe it's a bit of follow the leader but I think it's more the activists trying to mess things up!

Maybe it's a bit of follow the leader but I think it's more the activists trying to mess things up! Yes, definitely! Yellowrose had asked why now, and not before, so that is what came to mind. And I think especially the activists would use the excuse, "the President does, why can't we" do go to extremes with acts of violence and destruction...even if they are against the President. |

Yes that is why, funny how we preach democracy and peaceful demonstration around the world and can't do it ourselves! |

Why not during Bush jr, Clinton, Bush Sr, etc Who knows why it's not happened before, my view is as I said for here is it's activists wanting to disrupt as much as possible, causing more embarrassment to the government. I bet there are some people who have walked past the statues everyday and not noticed them, but all of a sudden they don't like them! |

I was just wondering if it could have something to do with why now and not before. Kind of like a "Monkey see, monkey do" mentality, only to insane extremes. The door has opened for change, and people (activists) are taking it too far. |

I see it as opportunity. We had a black president for 8 urs that (I am sure) would back it. But they wait until Trump....along with the other crap now
