Well you picked the right time! It's actually become the most stressed time of the year in this country!

It was not that way many years back. Remember, if you are old enough that is, when you could go out on Thanksgiving or Christams day and there was hardly a car on the road??? Not a store to be found open and everyone was already where they were suppose to be.

Now more and more stores stay open even on the big days and people freak and stress about EVERYTHING!

So you have a choice. Play the stressed out "holiday game" or choose not to. happy

Boundaries are your friend. Saying no is a wonderful, healthy thing.

But yeah, I get stressed too.

True - at least where I live there are lots of options on the holidays. Many stores are open, and there are a lot of different types of activities going on.

Yeh its normal. This year I'll be with my mother and brother for Christmas in Texas... first time we have been all together in 11 years.

But not sure if I will be around there or here in CA for new years...hence may be bringing in the new year without friends or family around this year. Thats about the only "stress" I have... if you want to call that "stress". I can think of a lot worse.

The holidays are always one of the most stressful times of the year. Try to keep things simple, don't over-commit & stay 'in the moment'. You can't be in 2 places at once & can't be all things to all people, so instead of stressing or beating yourself up about things you can't control. Accept this, do what you can & don't worry about the rest.

Darlin...I HAD to LEARN how to say NOOOO!!!!!!!! It was hard for me cuz I am a bit co-dependent and didn't want to hurt anyones feelings and I was a bit of a controll freak. Thought if I didn't do it someone else would just do it half assed anyway. Thing is when you do learn to say NOOOOO...people don't get pissed. They just find another way or someone else to do it. Just let them know that you are a bit overwhelmed at this time, that you have quite enough on your plate and would be glad to help out some other way (something not so demanding on you or your time).PROMISE you, it will be o.k.
