The Past, Pain, and Inner-Dying
By Devon Nicole Riggan

I’ve tried so hard to rid myself of the past

No matter what I do – it keeps coming back

The past hurts; the past bruises

But he doesn’t know how the past ruins

Ruined my life – and ruined my arms

So full of scars now; the past causes harm.

History repeats, over and over it wins,

I’ve lost now. The past wins again.

Can’t get away! Hoping and trying

To rid myself of the past, pain, and inner-dying

It eats away at my mind. It eats away at my heart

The past never gets full of forbidding me a new start.

I want to start over again. And again. And again.

The past is so strong, can’t it do anything but win?

Leave me alone. Corrupt someone else –

Please allow me to live a life and not be afraid of myself.

Very good write, but there comes a time we finally learn to deal with the past and leave it were it should be in the past in order to move on in the future.

Welcome to the site hope to see more of your post.bigsmile

With out pain and lost love we would all be lost somewhere. That is the hope that comes back to us and gives us the fire to see the next day, and with fire we will see it a different way because of the change made by the fire. You have to get the ambers out from in deep and give them a chance to burn out so that you can start a new again!! For we all have our times good and bad , but now is the time to make them all GOOD!!

 Good Poem! Pain it is a b- specially the pain of a lost love!
To put things in perspective: To know what joy is you have to experience pain. Cannot have one with out the other.

Aww, thanks everyone :) This is actually an older poem of mine, even though I can currently relate to it in some ways.
