Do you think a clever /brainy person just has a good ability to recall information?

Clever / brainy has nothing to do with searching keywords. The only thing you need is the keyword. You can get information on any subject even if you have no clue what the keyword means.

Recollection has something to do with pattern recognition and memorizing has something to do with association. ("IIRC") At least some people (Jeff Hawkins, "On Intelligence") model part of the brain (NFC?) as an "associative hierarchical memory". Stuff like lateral thinking too might be affected by how well/differently a brain associates and recognizes patterns.

When in thought or conversation, maybe doing a quiz or studying how much of the information is from your own personal knowledge and how much do you get from the Internet?
Do you think people knew more before the access to Internet than they do now?
And, do you see a time when all you'll need to learn is how to use a search engine?
Talking online about something is easier as you can just Google
Face to face conversation is the test of how much you really know!

wow thats so true mmm

Does it always have to be a competition between printed research and cyber research? Its all learning, just different formats, and one is faster and more convenient than the other. I can even see how the two of them can work hand in hand to enhance the learning experience. It just depends on how you use it happy

You should always cross reference your research online with more than one source, as you would in a library, and use reliable sources for the information, I find Wikipedia is one very good source.

There are many courses that can now be taken online instead of in the classroom, but what is lost online is what is brought out in the classroom by other students, these interactions in class between students and tutor during lectures are all part of the learning process in my opinion, and don't happen in online courses.
