You might be able to run a recovery from your OS disk.

if you can get to my computer right click it

go to primary drive letter

right click it

click tools

click error checking

click both fix boxes

click start

click yes on run when restarted

click start

click shut down

click restart

hopefully it will fix itself

If you have a windows 98 disk, you can do a chkdsk from the prompt without or before booting your OS. Maybe this will fix your courpted file system. There are a few other suggestions, but more than likely, you will have to reformat your drive and reinstall you OS. (Operating System). If you had Linux, this could be accomplished without losing any data.

Sorry for the (maybe) obvious question, but are you running Windows 98?

It sound like you need to reinstall your Operating System.
