Well here I am going to express myself. In todays world it seems that no one is looking for a relationship, its all about the sex...which is annoying. I understand to each their own and blah blah. You wanna have sex with each person you meet up by all means have them.

Anyway...i doubt the person I will find will be on a dating site...I just dont have faith in them anymore, no matter how well detailed your profile is on what kind of person you might be and what your looking for.

I guess I'm just throwing my two cents out there. lol

If people were being so successful out there with their offline dating, then many of us would not have looked into online options.

Love and compatability are challenging to find whether in your real life or on a dating site.

I guess the important thing is to keep your mind and heart open either way.

Easier said then done ofcourse lol

Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search!

In todays world it seems that no one is looking for a relationship

In most worlds that ever existed people weren't really looking for "relationships" as we define them on dating site forums and Disney princess movies.

Dating and mating for "love" and "partners in crime" and "forever and ever" is a relatively new phenomenon.

Thank the industrial revolution. Thank birth control.
Society's and culture were relatively isolated.
You married what was available. Preferably for some kind of monetary, land, prestige, gain to the family. You married to guarantee the bump in her belly was yours rather than some other random guy's, you married to provide stability to the group. You married to uphold culture.

Then came factories and people migrated to giant cities.
Next thing you know there's an epidemic of unwanted pregnancies.
There were political cartoons of people hauling wheelbarrow's full of unwanted and abandoned dead babies out to the trash heap.

People weren't "looking for relationships."
There was a bunch of orphanages and child laws.
There was a huge push for birth control use. Condoms. The pill. Legalized abortions. Planned Parenthood.

There was WWI and WWII, and generations were decimated, millions of people killed off.
Then came the Saturday Evening Post with the propaganda of the happy husband, happy wife, 2.5 kids, the dog, and the white picket fence.
Procreate! It's your patriotic duty. If you want to be happy and truely american, you'll have a bunch of kids!...and buy a Chevy.
Then came Disney furthering the relationship propaganda with waking sleeping beauty with true loves kiss and then chastely riding off into the sunset happily ever after.

People look for relationships that benefit themselves, and or their group identity.
Not perpetual emotional bliss.

In today's world people are looking for what they've always looked for.
There are just fewer consequences to doing so, and fewer incentives to change from that.

its all about the sex

It always was. After you hit puberty, that's a major motivator for behavior whether you consciously realize it or not.
Civilization/culture help offset that, knowing you will go after what you want, but forcing you to do it in ways that are for the "greater good" according to social rules and conventions.
Culture works, but only if it's relatively homogeneous and chock full of punishments and rewards which are clear, concise, known, and enforce behavior that is desired.

People adapt to fit into groups. When there is no clear cut group, or transferring from one group to another is as easy as clicking a hyperlink, there's no real reason to follow any rules, the more natural impulse is dominant.

i doubt the person I will find will be on a dating site

In today's world, I doubt any person you end up finding will not have had sex with someone they met off a dating site at some point in their life.

Loads of men complain that every woman wants a serious relationship and/or marriage...
You complain they all want sex and only sex???? noway

I know there's men who are looking for sex-only and can't find it, cos few women are up for that. So I'm a tad confused here...
