Oh my goodness ...I am sorry tom but I totally agree with cat ..most of these receipes I would not eat ..theyare too high in saturated fats .. salt and processed meat ..all of which are a heart attack on plate... Sausages ..bacon ..ham ..pepperoni contain nitrates which are known to be unhealthy and Cancer causing . Better to choose lean cuts of meat and chicken.. preferably organic . Some of your recipes just require some adjustment .. need more veges fibre..and heart healthy fats . Less seasoning .. It is ok to treat yourself with comfort food but ideally should be part of a healthy diet. Of course everything in moderation, but Blondey I have been around 71 years, and still going strong, someone springs to mind here,James Fuller, AKA Jim Fixx, the man who invented Jogging, he died aged 52 1984 whilst out Jogging, what's that song by Ian Drury and the Blockheads, Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, and if I can add to that, and a big fat Curry. Blondey, Wonderful,so Autumn & Spring agree |

It is ok to treat yourself with comfort food but ideally should be part of a healthy diet. So, I guess I should throw away the big fat rib eyes I have for the grill? Get rid of the pure salted Amish butter for my sunny side up eggs? Perhaps plant flowers in my deep fat fryer? Healthy Choice has a large variety of great tasting meals that can be made in the microwave. Its clear that I need a woman that knows how to use a microwave if I have any chance of surviving my dietary indulgences. Silly me, left to my own choice, I choose foods that I like to eat over the ones that are good for me. Imagine that? As far as I know, all the food I eat is organic. Some of the seasonings I use are mineral but the food is organic. I tried eating plastic fruit once when I was drunk but that didn't taste very well. Perhaps I should have wrapped it in bacon first? Doc says my heart is healthy and strong. My cholesterol levels are in range and my triglycerides are in range but slightly on the higher side. My blood pressure is optimal and my pulse is normal at every check. I have high blood sugar but not dangerously high, my A1c is slightly elevated but in acceptable range. I am told whatever I am doing to keep my sugar in check is working. Gotta get ready to start making lunch... Mixing up some ground beef to make some onion burgers for my double bacon cheeseburger. Anyone want one? I have plenty. |

But I do have a guilty pleasure "comfort food" when I make meatloaf I make a blanket of bacon weaved together with cheese in the middle! |

Elephant Stew Directions Cut elephant into bite-size pieces. This takes about 2 months. Using large kettles, simmer equal parts elephant and vegetables with enough broth to cover. Cook for a couple days. If more are expected add the rabbits, but do this only if necessary. Most people don't like to find hare in their stew. |

I know, right?
I've had gator sausage on a stick and bought it raw to add to chili and stews and it is unique but good. I recently noticed that Walmart now carries Alligator meat in the seafood section. A camping buddy of mine makes awesome fried carp. Carp is good eating if it is cleaned and cooked right. Personally I enjoy cooking more than eating. Having someone over for dinner is delightful for me because I get to cook. There is always plenty of appetizers during the holidays at my place. I make up strange names for some of the dishes I cook. C'mon over and have some of my not-so-famous Burger Turds & Wiggles (Mini meatloafs, brown gravy and egg noodles) |

Shish-ka-Smokies
Get a couple of packs of those lil-smokies sausages. I get a pack of beef and a pack of cheese smokies. Some 14" bamboo skewers Mushrooms, pearl onions, pepper chunks or anything you might like. Load up the skewers with alternating smokies & veggies. Spray the loaded skewers with olive oil spray and grill. Break the cooked skewers in half and arrange them on a platter with various dipping sauces. Cover the platter with tin foil to keep them warm over time. Sweet Tater Steaks Peel and slice a large sweet potato into 1/2 inch slices lengthwise. Place them in a ziplock bag and add Olive oil A dab of rice vinegar or red wine vinegar Italian seasoning blend Some honey and brown sugar Mix and let sit at room temp overnight or at least half a day. Grill and enjoy. |

I make up strange names for some of the dishes I cook. C'mon over and have some of my not-so-famous Burger Turds & Wiggles (Mini meatloafs, brown gravy and egg noodles) First time I had alligator was back in 2001, while visiting my Mom in Central Florida, it was deep fried and surprisingly good. We have a couple restaurants here in the Keys that prepare it the same way. I've had frog legs and squirrel before, both taste like chicken to me. Although I'm not crazy about frog legs so don't eat them anymore. And I think I'd have to pass on the rest of the stuff on that menu, just too gross for me. That's cool about making up strange names, it adds to the fun of getting together for a meal. Although I'm not sure about eating those meatloafs with the thought of "turds" in my mind, lol. But after the first bite, I'd probably ask for more turds, lol. |

I came up with that name from the grandkids. I was making stuffed manicotti once and he noticed that the meat mixture, when I squeezed it into a cylindrical shape with my hand, resembled a turd. The name stuck. So, I figured I would make it a meal and they loved it. "Papa, when are we gunna have 'burger turds' again?" |

The things kids come up with and their honesty is amazing. |

Went to Dinner once, and there was a White & Pink Icing Cake to follow,
Shaped like a giant Penis, after the laughing had died down, everybody just sat there waiting to see who was going to attack it first, then obviously fed up waiting, one of the women stood up lunged forward and bit right into the head,so there she sat trying to lick the cream of her face, whilst the rest of us politely tucked in,so for months after that everybody asked if she had anything nice in her mouth lately, just shows what to much wine can do,nothing to do with this topic just wanted to share it |

Dry Chicken Wings
Stick the wings in a pot Add chili oil A splash of rice vinegar Spicy chicken seasoning blend (Kickin Chicken) Mrs Dash chicken seasoning A dash of Old Bay blackened seasoning Onion powder Garlic powder Chinese 5 spice Water Bring the wings to a hard boil and reduce heat Simmer for about a half an hour, stir a few times. Turn of the heat and let the chicken mixture cool on the burner, stirring every once in awhile. Remove the chicken wings and pat dry with a paper towel. Use two deep dish plates. In the first plate Add Tony Chachere's Creole Style Chicken Sauce Add some hot sauce or wing sauce. Mix together In the other plate Add Italian bread crumbs Cracked peppercorns Red pepper flakes A dash or 5 of cyan powder Some ground sea salt Mix together Coat the precooked wings in the sauce covering them completely. Coat the now wet wings in the dry mixture covering them completely. Bake for about 30-45 minutes at 350 turning them over once during cooking. Let the wings set for a bit to cool. I've only done the hot wings. I'm thinking of trying a version of this using sweet stuff. Might also try a boil out with hot and a coating of sweet. |
