I think the one things that drives most people to religion is their inability to cope with not knowing the answers to things. So if they can believe in an all-knowing God then this relieves them of having to question things and figure them out on their own. Instead, they can just throw up their hands and say, “It’s in God’s hands”. Unfortunately this can actually lead to an excuse to become mentally lazy and to even shirk responsibility for having to deal with things directly.

However, more to the point, people who are driven by a fear of not-knowing things, or a fear of having to figure things out on their own, surely aren’t about to question their religion. After all, the idea of not having to question things is precisely why they became religious in the first place! So to question their religion would be counterproductive to why they became religious in the first place.

Obviously this isn’t the only reason to become religious, but it certainly is one reason that appears to be quite popular.

Let God have all the answers
to all the questions that we ask

We’ll shut the blinds
and close our minds
and in his glory bask!

and never have to think

and act like bums
and never see a shrink

The ignorance of blissfulness
will be the focus of our trust

What you're describing about man and his mental capacity, let alone his, mine,our, ability to reason, examine, or otherwise endeavor productively, is an observation of a dying species that is making less than healthy decisions in life.

I observe similar weaknesses and frailties every day, everywhere in everything, especially in my trade and in my profession.

I don't think we're gonna make it sometimes.

We could be close to electing a clown to baby sit the BUTTON!!!

It's a scary thought to think we may witness the vaporization of a good chunk of this planet and its inhabitants over political and religious contrivances.

I think we already did that!

And he still has one more year of baby-sitting left before he’s relieved of duty!!!!
