Topic: If relationships are like a candle. | |
---|---|
Let's say that a relationship is like a candle. I believe that for the most part, most of us know how to keep the flame going. Can we give examples of how the flame can go off. Examples of how the relationship can fade away.

Topic: If relationships are like a candle. You cannot light a candle and just leave it to burn on it's own. You have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't burn the house down. But if relationships are like a candle, make sure you got the mother of all candles to make it last a long time. ... also if relationships are like a candle, lighting another candle before your candle is put out completely is considered cheating and you might end up dead and wake up in hell. So not advisable. |

I guess, in my side, Trust, trust keep my candle glowing, even if the trust is shaken, may dim, if not rebuild, it will extinguish the glow.

Thank you. It can fade when you leave it unattended, causing the fire to burn too high and the wax spilling out all over the place or melting down faster, to the point of nothing. |

for me true love is not like a candle if it was then it would be a candle lacking the brightness that it should give. nobody would ever use a candle if it doesn't give sufficient light. change the candle just for solar powered lights that way when you need it its just there till theres sun in daylight and moon at night...sort of infinite...that is true love. oh wait were talking candles right

how to make it fade...it will fade by itself no need to do anything...but then it would not be true love. when i want my candle to fade i just let in a bit of wind from outside my room but if i want it burning all night i make sure all the windows and doors are closed no other source of air coming in but my breathing

Yeah, I would never choose "candle" as my metaphor for love relationships either. When I think of a candle, I think of a thing that consumes itself as it's primary reason to exist, so I would HOPE that my love is nothing like a candle.
I have also come to be exceedingly wary of recommendations to "work" to make your love stay strong. Because every time I have dealt with a situation where love required conscious effort to keep going, it was a sure fire sign that the original love was gone, and had been replaced by a sense of duty or by the idea that the relationship was itself some sort of trophy. So I will work for the sake of the other person at all times, but I will never again try to work for the relationship or for some fantasy of what life is supposed to consist of. |

I could quote a lot on this thread but, given that "most" people here grew up with a stairway to heaven and a highway to hell. Let's say that a relationship is like a candle. On this website, that candle is often the Roman kind. That says a lot of anticipated traffic flow . |
