Hearing impaired is the "Politically Correct" term for deaf.
Both the same, just said different.

My father is totally deaf in one ear, his "good" ear that he had partial hearing in...he had used a hearing aid since he was 5 years old.

Deaf...as far as I know is....total deafness, no hearing at all.
Hearing impaired...I believe that there is some hearing capabilities, I think that's the word I'm looking for.......

$3000 dollars worth of hearing aids. Hearing Impaired, but only around other people, by myself I just turn it up. I watch and listen how many times the other people say, HuH? What? Say that again? I am not in bad shape at all. Funny thing is I almost became a American Sign Language interpeter 15 yrs ago. I still can sign but the skills are rusty.
