its show and tell time. what do you enjoy doing for a hobby?

I have been collecting minerals for a few years. My theme is the
Toxic Minerals. Lead ores, Asbestiforms, Radioactives, Arsenics,
Trinitite, ect. Been getting most from the Mineralogical Research Company
out of Calif. They have an excellent website and Sharon is very
knowledgeable. My Trinitite collection is very large. Trinitite was
formed under thr fireball of the first nuclear explosion in New Mexico.
The sand turned to glass from the heat. No its not radioactive now but
at one time it was very hot im sure.
Also have some neat Flourescents. Am thinking of taking my collection
to a mineral show.

what kinds of rocks? its a fun hobby for me. you can collect all your
life and still not have everything you want. I collect antique water
pumps also.
a rock collector can do real good after a rain in a gravel pit.

I collect old water pumps and restore them for display at a museum.
You know, the pump stands that are outside. Am up to about 30 now. I
like them as I can restore them w/o much money, just paint and a few
bolts. Then when im done, they look like new. Most are worth a lot so i
make some money off them too. I think i found a type of antiques that no
one else collects.

Been collecting recipes and cookbooks since I was 8. My Granny got me
started and now my cookbooks fill about 5 six foot bookcases. Along with
that came collecting cookware and kitchen gadgets. I have more cookware
than most restaurants (over 50 different frying pans LOL) I love to cook
for other people and even though I live alone I have service for 20 in
case I want to throw a BIG party. I've entered several cooking
competitions such as chili cookoffs and lasagna bakeoffs more for the
experience than the prize (usually I have WAY more invested in the food
than top prize is) and generally have taken first place so I must be
doing ok LOL.

collecting and hobbies are nice things to get people connected and
talking. Nice time filler tooo!!!
I have unicorns I have collected since I was a teen. I also have
minature tea sets. rocks and shells and windchimes. I guess I have a
lot of time huh??? But honestly I have had more of these things given
to me as gifts than I myself have bought. Its nice that everyone knows
what I like and can always figure out what to buy for my for b-day or
xmas. I also paint draw sew and do arts and crafts for hobbies.

...Every year my exibit of Water pumps gets larger, heavier, and harder
to set up. For next year i am working on a cut away of a deep well hand
pump system. It mounts on a big wooden base like a long sawhorse.
???Have not decided how to label it yet. ???
Also next year im displaying my pitcher pumps so the kids can operate
them. Will make up some handouts with water usage data, windmill
diagrams, max depth chrts ect. The Print shop at the show will print
them on an antique press.

I try to improve the exibit each year so it always has something new
to see.
Am thinking of assembling a pump once a day for a demonstration.
Am on the fence on that idea so far.
