hmmm i searched and read that it is caused by physical health problems. makes sense. See, to me that doesn't make sense? Health problems are not usually a phobia. Tho I'm sure there are phobias having to do with health problems. You can be afraid to lift heavy objects if you have a bad back - that is not a phobia of 'fear of heavy objects' it is a prevention decision to avoid pain. A phobia of fear of sitting would be fear of sitting even if there are no health problems. |

The way I see phobias is the person cannpt deal with the fear of something in any way shape or form.
Spiders: Even the thought of encountering a spider can make someone squeemish. Not just the pain from a bite but the whole idea of a spider. When I look at the list, I try to imagine what life would be like for someone that exists in that phobia state of mind. Some have no danger of pain or discomfort except what the sufferer imagines. You can have a fear of spiders but are able to function in their presence. The phobia sufferers can't function. Imagine someone with Anablephobia (Fear of looking up). Someone with that phobia might live in a house where all their cupboards are eye level or below. To look upwards brings fear and emotional discomfort. They can't date anyone taller than them. But, is it the height or the act of looking up in which they fear? Can they lie on their backs and look at the ceiling? Some fears are well-founded. Take Kynophobia (Fear of rabies). Nobody wants to get rabies. You take measures to assure you don't get into situations where you might get rabies. If you see an animal with rabies you might run or avoid it. The phobia comes into play when they see rabies in all animals, everywhere and can't function because of the fear. |
