Christmas was not originally a Christian Holiday?? It was originally a winter celebration just for celebrating the winter season? I did not know that until someone who researched it told me that the Christians adopted the winter celebration as Christ's birthday and began using it for a Christian holiday. The things you learn each day......LOL Happy Holidays to everyone who celebrates them.bigsmile

the birth of christ was actually more around sept or october.. as according to readings the sheepheep hearders would have not had their sheep out in the cold of december.. while it may have taken the wise men till dec. to actually make it to the stables where he lay.. the christmas tree its self according other readings is from pagen religion and was adopted it mainly to bring more patrons into the church

*note to all i am not puttin down or such of any religion.. just informing of what i've read

I did not mean it to offend anyone, history interests me. The history of the holidays is interesting. Each person has their own personal belief and should excersise it. I was just being informative not antagonistic. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Do you want to meet people or do you want to tout your paganistic anti God beliefs because nobody will talk to you on here? That must be it. And oh, you're from Denver? HA! I've heard about you sick liberals from Denver. Between you all and Arnold Schwarzenegger you are the demise of this great country. Get off this website. Better yet get off the internet. Better yet go rethink you're entire deviant mindset and look up into the sky and tell me that was an accident.
:) have a great day pal!

attitudes like that are what is dividing this country even more... the politicians love to polarize... it makes it easier for them to effectively market themselves... don't get sucked into it.

I just did not know that, someone also told me the history channel does the history of Christmas and the tree every year, I did not know that either. I must have missed it on the history channel in years gone by. The fact that it is a celebration of the season of winter though, actually opens it up for everyone to celebrate it. I would think that would be a good thing, right........?

Yes. It's an amalgam of other cultures and religions. Zoroastrians delivered gifts as well as their monotheism. Jews and multi-theistic Romans also provided their input. As it moved north, other beliefs became involved. It's no coincidence that Easter takes place in the Spring time -- rebirth and a return of life. I digress.
