“Do Nothing” Instructions

Your assignment is, and this is to be taken literally, to “do nothing.”

“To be unoccupied and unemployed for ten minutes, and see what you can see.”

Do this in a relatively busy place:

Stand still, relaxed, but at attention, eyes not wandering about.

You may NOT act like you’re waiting for someone; that would be “doing waiting.”
You may NOT “do sightseeing.”
You may NOT “do relaxing,” or “people watching.”

You must do this for ten minutes, no less.

Enter into this with “beginners mind” the opposite of “expert’s mind.”

You are to “simply and directly” observe what goes on within you and without you.

Write down your observations.

Also write what you learned while doing this.

Also write what you think the purpose of this exercise is.

I don't know your life or your heart, but I read some of your posts in the "coffe and single" thread, and you come across as someone who takes everything very personally.

The title and opening post to your thread made ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE, and you made no attempt to clarify what you were talking about... So everyone assumed you were JOKING , and we were being friendly and playing around with you!

Sorry we offended you man, but it might help alot if you read up more of the coffee and chichat threads before you start any more posts.

You have to get a feel for the culture of a place before you start engaging heavily, and taking everything personally.

Mingles is FUN. Its a madhouse. Put on your your party heard , point and laugh at yourself in the mirror and come join the fun!

Reading instructions or directions usually answers questions. Might need help to accomplish the task at hand. Least that's how I learn to do things.

As to what purpose....Usually the purpose is found out before the task at hand is started.
