I lost my husband in January and had saved this poem as it touched my heart.....Hoping it will touch yours and if youv'e never lost someone maybe this will prepare you if it ever would happen to you.

"If tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and
find your eyes all filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too;

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
all those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye,
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
it seemed almost impossible,
that I was leaving you.


I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,

And all the fun we had.

Just even for a while,

and maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,

My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,

Pretty good one girl,,,I know exactly where you are. I went thru the same thing almost 15 years ago.The lady that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with found out she had rare form of cancer just two weeks before our wedding.She stopped the wedding because she felt that it wasnt fair to me. At any rate,,,I took great care of her almost eight years until I lost her.I have no regrets at all for doing so.Probably the only thing that I ever did right.LoL So many times we get caught up in the hurt and pain of our losses that we dont stop to realize that our lost love ones have given us something that we didnt really have before we lost them.Compassion,,the depth, or capacity of our humanity. Im sure that you tell yourself daily that you didnt know that anything could hurt so much. I still do.But pain that deep can only come from Love that deep. I'm soo sorry for your loss,,,but Im really happy that someone has touched you soo deeply.Must of been one hell of a man to get you to love that deep.Take care of you,,,and God Bless.
