I think this is the fundamental question that comes from the romantic ideas of love being a magic spirit, like that little cherub with the bow and arrows in those old cartoons.

If you believe that love is something that is actively searching FOR you, or you think it's like a subway that regularly sends opportunities by, if you hang around the appropriate "stops," then you can just wait. If you think that love is something that you have to make happen, that people like you for whatever work you put in, or performances you put on, then you need to get on an exercise program, and work on your script writing skills.

Myself, I think that like all of life, love is a mix of the two, and neither at the same time. We are who and what we are, and we are also always evolving. Hence, finding a mate, is always going to be a combination of effort and of luck.

Do both, do them the right way. That is, work at being the best YOURSELF, not your best imitation of someone else; and to help the luck part along, try to stay in contact with other humans.

You can chase your dreams , yes. The pursuit of happiness may depend on you if you act or just wait for it to happen. But when it comes to love, it is an intangible thing, an emotion, you can't see it. You may try to find it but it doesn't work that easily... I'm sure you have tried searching it, you may have found and lost it. Love happens anytime, it's not time bounded, some find it earlier some later in life and some don't. Others have found and lost love and lucky are those who found their true love. Love happens at the right time , for the right reason with the right person. We neither find nor wait for it.

I'm new to this site but I guess the first thing I saw was love so I clicked on it but I'm a single guy with 4 kids and it seems impossible

I'm one of those people who are too shy to make the first move so I just let love happen. But I'm also very spiritual so I believe the universe will bring love if we're meant to have it. Maybe god wants me to learn more about patience by being single, that's how I look at it. I don't even make the first move on this site lol
