lol I would just like to know what qualifies one as an 'icon', I know the people on the list, but most I just know were some type of celebrity not sure what made them an 'icon' of tv,,, |

These kinds of lists are always a joke.
They have Barbara Eden on there, but not Elizabeth Montgomery? Besides Bewitched, Montgomery appeared in some of the best TV movies of the 70's. Also I think they've put people like George Clooney on the list because they became movie stars, outside of starring in the early seasons of ER Clooney never did anything iconic on TV, unless you count his recurring role on Facts Of Life |

Regarding real people (not TV characters) ...
... the #1 American TV icon is William Shatner. Senior citizens know him from his appearances on the original Twilight Zone TV show ... ... and the show The Outer Limits. Kids know him from his role in commercials for Priceline. Of course, people know him for being up to his neck in tribble. |
