Topic: IF you don't like it leave | |
---|---|
Is there such a difference in not like a politician or not liking political policies? Many people who are very open in their complaints against government and laws and policies are quick to tell those who dont like a presidential choice that they should leave...... People I LOVE all have some things that they do or say that I do not 'like' why do some not understand it is possible to not like some things about or some people in America without it meaning that you are somehow therefore not American enough to be here,, or should leave? does anyone else see how silly this response is to the grievances of another ? |

no
I mean if you are a citizen who complains about a politician or anything American being told you should therefore leave, by other people who generally have their own gripes about a politician or things American its not limited to political party,,,,its a bullying tactic,,,, |

The statement of "well, then just leave" was made as a reply to people who stated that they would leave or would like to leave if Trump was elected President. So, the people who made the initial comment of a wish to leave, brought on the responses of " o.k... see ya later" It would appear that they are now upset with the response, because they now realize that nobody really cares if they leave. And it seems to have affected their ego. |

the thread is not referring to people who have threatened to leave
the thread is referring to when people bring up something they disapprove of in America, and other people tell them if they don't like it they should leave for instance, if someone doesn't revere the flag, because of grievances they have about something in AMerica,, they have been told they should leave,,,,etc,,, |

My post most certainly does apply because it is right on the same vein.
And btw, When people do stuff like disrespect their country.. burn the flag, ect...( which is disrespecting the people who fought for that flag), they open themselves up to the criticism and the comments. So they want to make a personal statement, but only get positive responses?.. sorry, it doesn't work that way.. because it goes both ways...people have a right to respond to that.. in their OWN words. And it the ones making the personal protest don't like that.. well, that's just tough.. isn't it. Freedom of speech... is a two way street |

Well, what a great shame-that there are actually people out there who believe these people in the first place, and to let themselves be emotionally blackmailed into voting a certain way,it really is beyond belief that anyone can be that dumb, after all the years-months-weeks of campaigning trying to get there message across, they make the decision who to vote for-based on some mouthpiece spewing up a load of venom, and anyone with half a brain would surely see right through it,dear oh dear it is so depressing.

At this point, all that we can do is accept that Trump is our president. It's perfectly legal to protest, but not to destroy property. I do wish that those celebrities who threatened to leave if he were elected would pack their bags and go, and stop whining.

I do wish that those celebrities who threatened to leave if he were elected would pack their bags and go, and stop whining. Agreed, in my opinion both of them were flawed. But you have to vote for one or you are wasting your vote.. and I feel then have no right to *****. He is the President.. that is a fact. so those who do not like that.. have to accept it. And I feel that if you made a statement that if he became President that you would leave ( in some sort of protest), then you should stand by your words.. and leave. Personally I would have more respect for them had they done that. As for those who protest and destroy, well we have jails that can accommodate them until they realize they made a mistake. Destroying is destroying.. pretty clean cut. |

I think this might fall into that general category. For my part, I have gradually learned that the greatest ideals of America, of the United States, are vastly more subtle and challenging to understand and live up to, than the vast majority of people put the effort required in order to grasp. When the US was just starting, it's heritage was mostly European. In order to try to unite us for mutual protection, our wonderful leaders of way back then, made rules of freedom for us to try to live up to. It can be argued that many of the so-called Founding Fathers silently assumed that freedom meant "freedom to be like me," as lots of people even today don't even realize that they think, and it is certainly true that the US has gone through a number of tumults, arguing that the latest wave of "huddled masses" weren't "up to snuff," and should be turned away. Possible the MOST difficult concept for people to grasp, is the idea of The Loyal Opposition. Many nations and peoples have gone through great upheavals over that. When does opposition constitute rebellion? Here in the US, with our expansive ideals and multi-sourced national heritages, it's much harder to come to any certain conclusion. Then we get to the nature of SYMBOLS in all this. Things like the national flag, and related items, can become more than just symbols to some people. In some religions, there have been huge conflicts amongst believers, over whether this or that symbol is to be held to be Holy, and some even declare that it is an act of heresy to think that ANY objects should be used as symbols of faith. Entire wars have been fought over such, many times, and even today, some people kill others over this. Here in the US, I've witnessed a variety of people display what I would call a classic example of Irony (others might say hypocrisy), as they demand that other Americans venerate certain symbols as well, in the name of freedom and justice for all. "Either you stand and salute this symbol of Freedom To Do As You Wish, or we want to to leave the land of individual liberty." It's almost funny. But I understand the emotion. I want America to be the America I believed I was living in as I was growing up, and some people want it to be a very different America. And many don't seem to realize that we can't BOTH demand uniform behaviors, AND claim freedom and liberty at the same time. It's quite a challenge to be a REAL American, if you ask me. |
