Nice collection but see, I want this list to be simple.
All I need for searching is the title and year and whether or not I have the bluray and whether or not it has subtitles.

I surf IMdb for movies to complete sets or obscure movies I want to see and maybe get.
I simply open the notepad, select find and paste the title and year from IMdb in and hit enter.

I had a spreadsheet but it got too detailed.
For my needs, less is more.
The only other info I might want is file size and type but I can get that by clicking the file.
All my movies are zipped for archive.
The zip file remains pristine and when I unzip and watch a movie I just delete the unzipped file.

Recently I have been rewatching some movie series.
I unzipped the movies to my main computer (leaving the zipped files on the external drive) watch the films and delete them.
Right now, I am in the middle of the Terminator movie series.
I recently just finished the Lethal Weapon series and I have the Die Hard series and the Bourne series unzipped and ready.

I don't know how many movies I have.
I do know I have a lot.
All my movies are listed here because these lists are from the notepad where I track them. If you want to count them go for it. LOL

When I first started the notepad I started out listing movies by how they appear on the drive. Now, I just add new to the bottom as a running list.
As I convert/obtain electronic copies I zip them to a holding folder on my main computer. When I get a significant number of movies collected, I add them to the notepad as a running list, alphabetized only because that is how they appear in the folder view. Then I move them to the external drives.
Since I am always on the look out for better quality, smaller size, extended versions, some duplication in the list happens. For the reason I use the list, this isn't important because when I search a movie on that list, I keep hitting next until it shows no further results.
So if I had a VHS rip of Terminator 1 at 1.6 GB and have since upgraded to a bluray rip at 280 MB, I know the VHS rip no longer exists.
Sometimes I retain more than one copy of the same film.
I have the theatrical release of Avatar but I also have a bluray director's cut and a bluray extended version. So I actually have 3 Avatar files of the same film.

Okay, so if you felt like watching a horror movie directed by Ridley Scott, or an action movie produced by the old team of the late Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, how would you find it?

Search Ridley Scott on the IMdb and copy the title of the film I want to see and paste it into windows search (with my external drives online).
I don't really track directors or prodfucers or film studios tho.
I track actors and movie sets.
Lets say I wanted to watch an old Jerry Lewis or Shirley Temple movie.
I plug in the hard drive containing my actor sets, scroll to the actor and select a movie from that list.
For actors still making films, I check IMdb often to see if I can find movies I might be missiong from their listings. I pay attention to in production and filming statuses plus I have a few websites that list coming films in a few genres like Science Fiction and Horror.

are just two examples.

I also belong to a few movie forums and admin a couple Movie News Sub-forums. I scour the internet looking for movie news.
Places like CHUD, Fearnet and BMovie Review.
I also frequent production company homepages, special effects companies and even matte painting companies.

For dead actors, If I have every film they have done, I denote that fact with a period after their title folder. Brandon Lee. means I have all Brandon Lee's films.
I also keep a note pad copy and paste of an actors movies in my conversion folder for that actors name. When I get a film I don't have, I add an * at the beginning of that film title in that notepad.
Example:
*Olympus Has Fallen (2013)
*London Has Fallen (2016)
Angel Has Fallen (2019)
This tells me right away which ones I have and which ones I don't.
Since I keep my conversion folder on my main computer, I always have this information. I update it on a regular basis from IMdb listings or upcoming movie listings.
I also have running watchlists on multiple movie sites.

Oh, and before you ask, I'm homebound and physically limited so I have all the time in the world. The rest of my life, as short as that may be...

What is the best spook flick you ever watched Tom?

There's a lot I like.
"Spook" as I understand it, is spy movies.
Spooky is scary.

I find I like the deep cover / extreme spy flicks the best.
There are some pretty good James Bond films that give me what I want.
I like the Bourne Films.
I even enjoy the Mission Impossible films.
I'm attracted to the science fictiony gadgets and refined disciplined personal control.
I like the John Wick films, Agent 47 films, the Equalizer films and even the Punisher films.
I also like punning spook films like Jackie Chan's The Medallion and The Tuxedo and loved the Kingsman Films.
True Lies was pretty cool too.
I also like films like The Accountant, American Ultra, Shooter, the Red films with Bruce Willis, The Mechanic films, Jack Reacher films, xXx films, Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit, Spooks: The Greater Good, Long Kiss Goodnight, Mr & Mrs Smith, Oldboy, Point Of No Return, Salt, Wanted, The November Man, G.I. For spooky movies (horror type) I prefer monsters and creatures but I like the creepy of films like Split, Unsane and other twisted real life-like personality extremes. I find them 'spooky' because they actually 'could' happen. I find most horror films funny tho, especially slashers.

Favorite movie is probably Kingdom of Heaven - crusaders/action/violence/history and love Saladin's line at the end when asked What is Jerusalem worth? Saladin replies NOTHING....takes a couple of steps, turns around and says EVERYTHING.

he gives me chills.....see how little it takes to excite me and make me watch it over and over ! LOL

The Magnificent Seven (2016) ~ bluray is the only one I have right now.

It is a remake of the 1960 film of the same name, which in turn is a reimagining of the 1954 film Seven Samurai. The film stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lee Byung-hun, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, Haley Bennett, and Peter Sarsgaard. It is the final film of composer James Horner, who died the previous year after composing part of the score; his friend Simon Franglen completed the music.

Tom - if you dont have the original Magnificent Seven, in my opinion you just don't have it. Remakes of good films like that are big ZEROS to me. just my opinion.
