there is another "founding fathers" quote that I can't remember exactly right now but it states, the citizens are obligated to overthrow the government if it becomes corrupt.

This conversation reminded me of watching V for Vendetta.
V's dictum that "people shouldn't be afraid of their government, the government should be afraid of its people" — is a restatement of Negri and Hardt's notion of democracy for all. However, never will enough people stand up for themselves to overthrow the govt, due to the self preservation instinct. Tianaman Sq is a classic example ... Now where are the Chinese protesters? |

I don't think our government has reached the point of over throw... but I do find it silly to take away the foundation our country was based upon... religion... silly silly politicians... ever since religion has been taken out of public schools... there has be a drastic decline in morality.. and a very huge increase in crime..

Sorry to be a pedant, but you were partially right the first time ... 1984 had illusory images of the goings on now.
But Brave New World is a very powerful set up too. V for Vendetta (the movie) had lots of cameos of both of these book. |

I am one of the originals who helped contribute to this site. I have seen it go from balls-to-the-wall to "Big Brother is watching you". I prefer balls-to-the-wall. I think censorship is a violation of our constitutional rights. There is a difference between abusiveness and being blunt. Freedom of speech, freedom of expression.........what does it all mean if we never know what is going to be banned /deleted next?
It started to get this way when a handful repeatedly went tattling and reporting over very minor crap. I feel if you don't like what you're reading, speak up or move on to another topic. If you start an arguement, or not everyone agrees with you, well, be prepared to finish what you start. If you can't take the heat, get outta the kitchen.

Neil...sorry that that happened to ya...its sad
 that we have to be "censored" here....i could understand if you were swearing directly at the person or calling them names ...but not if u are just cracking jokes or just making valid points...but it seems that ppl on here just cant be adults and ACT LIKE ADULTS!! Sad because we are not in high school anymore!!

well my take on censorship,,,,,there was this 99 year old guy named DABNY, and he was moaning that he lost his girlfriend on every damn forum i happened to read. several people gave him advice. then, i read his profile, and first he was under/over 7', 99, white and well that opened pandora's box right there.
so i asked him after thinking about it, if he could still get it up at 99, or even remember his gf for that matter. well, i did not get my answer, except that when i clicked somewhere the page was missing and that was the end of that. censorship. i will never know if DABNY can do it, but i suspect not. and i am not even sure if there was a gf. cause he jumped from that forum to somewhere else doing the same thing. so here's to u DABNY if u can still get it up.
