How do you feel about pastors who live extravagant, showy and luxurious lifestyles?

For example, does your past drive a Bentley, Rolls Royce? or maybe he/she has a private jet.

I would like to see any one of them walk into a poor little church house on Wed. evening and leave a legitimate tithe there.

And do so on a regullar basis.

Talk the walk and walk the talk.

God mentions somthing about people and thier money shall soon part, then again God also mentions people who worship and do good things in his name, he will take care of them.

The intentions of the pastor, some are consummed from the material possessions other live rather comfortably. Id rather see a "hooked up pastor", than a pastor whos underdressed. I think we need to look at thier intentions more than thier appearance

I agree. If the chruch is large, I see no reason why the pastor couldn't have nice cloths and a nice car. But that is up to the conscience of the pastor and the congregation. I wouldn't stay in a chruch if the pastor received an extravagant salary. But this really isn't anyones business other than the congragation and the pastor. Only if the pastor was teaching heresay would I think anyone outside the church should get involved.

Who said pastors have to live as paupers? If they earned their money and invested it wisely and it's all legit, then they should be able to enjoy material things too.

If we are going to walk the walk. In Yahshua's footsteps as the Apostles did and his disciples. Then remember this..

Luke 9:57-62

Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, "Master, I will follow You wherever You go."

58 And Yahshua said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head ."

59 Then He said to another, "Follow Me."

But he said, "Master, let me first go and bury my father."

60 Yahshua said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of Yahweh."

61 And another also said, "Master, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house."

62 But Yahshua said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of Yahweh."

I go to a fairly large church in the Houston area but one of the things I like about it is that the financials are very open. We know what the pastor gets paid and we know he puts his money where his mouth is.
Televangelism I think is something that has the most potential for abuse. Watching church on TV doesn't count to me anyway. They pray on telling people that they can buy their way into heaven.
