english is the official language of the USA and everyone knows that, eeryone also knows that there r many people here who speak it as a second language.
a bill to formally declare it as the official language is just an attempt to stick it to immigrants (legal and illegal)

u know ive met very few immigrants legal and illegal who dont speak at least semi-decent english and some americans wh speak only english and rudimentary 2nd languages get mad at them for it
and just in case someone was going to tell me that i dont have any expierience with illegal immigrants I live in new mexico a border state and even most illegals do speak english better than i speak spanish

i see it like this,if they're not willing to learn the language than they're not truly willing to become a U.S citizen!

but the majority of them ive met DO speak English

It is funny to see all these white faces of people who are angry over someone of a different race coming into America for the great American dream, when their ancestors DID THE EXACT SAME thing. I never said I was "angry about others coming to America for the American dream". I AM angry, however, about those who "sneak across the borders" and enter this country ILLEGALLY.
And honestly, no one should be angrier about that than people who are trying to come here LEGALLY.

I DO think that people who are trying to come here LEGALLY, and blending into society SHOULD learn English. Please tell me WHY we should have to learn their language? They came here, we did not go there. And if we DID go there, would they learn OUR language? I think we both know the answer to that one.

I said it before, I'll say it again. If you come here LEGALLY, I'm glad to have you. Otherwise, don't bother. But I don't think it's too much to ask, if the LEGALS love our country so much and want to be a part of it, that they learn(and speak)our language.

Listen guys, first and foremost, the white base of this country is in no way under any kind of threat of becoming the minority as whites in power will never let that happen. That out of the way, the language is a mute point, America is already an english speaking country to mix a little other language in here and there is not a problem. We speak english here, anyone who wants to do anything will have to know some english, whether there are forms with another language on it or not. Mute battle, waste of time and money. I live in Denver, yes, and mexican people bother me not at all. They work harder than most so called citizens at a lower rate of pay and they buy their groceries and needed items at the stores that collect sales tax, restaurants that collect tax, etc.....

You all must remember, white supremacy is very root in our country, has been for a long time, many of the ideals that are pushed about others being a burden on the country and so forth are based from the white supremist hand book of how to keep the country as white as possible. Unless you think about it you will not see the connection.

I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your posts, but you're missing one thing here. People here have NO problem with LEGAL immigrants. the problem is the ILLEGAL ones.

Yes, the illegals are buying things. But, they're also getting free healthcare. Where do you think that money's coming from? Their own pockets? Think again.

Most of the legals coming here to this country are adapting. Most are learning our language. It's the ones who comehere ILLEGALLY who refuse to learn English. Most of their money is NOT going into the US economy. They send the majority of it back to Mexico. And, yes, there's a LOT of farmland around where I live. I see illegals on a daily basis. Yes, it's a huge problem, because Immigration officials can't--or more likely won't--do anything about this growing problem. Still a minority? Maybe. But it might interest everyone to know that there are now more Mexicans in America than there are blacks. The Mexicans are the biggest minority in America today.

Knox, I was done in here but for your information, I worked for the government in the field of human services, the hospitals bill the aliens for there services, AND GUESS WHAT????? Alot of them pay their dam bills, GO FIGURE!!!!!! It was very amusing for me to watch the propaganda that caused all the legislatures to waste YOUR good tax dollars to duplicate laws that were already on the books in many states, yes, YOUR TAX dollars were wasted so they could debate the issue of illegals not getting any government benefits. The laws were already there. I worked in the field that paid out benefits and we WERE NEVER ALLOWED TO GIVE ILLEGALS ANYTHING!!! No foodstamps, no medicaid, no welfare, no hospital coverage, etc.... Vote Ron Paul for president, and that's the first step to securing the borders. If you don't understand why already, then you should look up where he stands on immagration, foreign policy, and the his monetary platform. They are all related to one another. He has the best plan, and he has the best chance of curing peoples appathy towards politics. If we get a guy like him in office, then I guarentee that these politicians will change they're ways real quick, because people are already starting to pay attention, and the more popular he gets, the more the spotlight will shine on our representitives.

knox, you are wasting your time. some are clueless, i was in san deigo 2 years ago and the gov. released figures on health care and crime by illegals. (via the newspaper) dont know where some get info but it sure is not the factual info. but remember this thread started about goverment people. and they ALL lie just to save there jobs. here in denver very few pay there free medical bills thats why they go to the county hospitials, i know my sister in law was a billing clerk in one, go blow smoke somewhere else

For some of our posters here who just can't seem to control their temper, I work in the medical field. I know who's getting free healthcare. I know who's being billed for it. I know a lot of people aren't happy about their healthcare costs rising on a regular basis just to cover ILLEGALS who shouldn't even be here anyway.
