A parent isn't responsible? What? Yes they are. The tax payers are responsible.

the parent is responsible up to the point of why their kid wont get a meal

but if someone gives them the meal ANYWAY,, that person is responsible, rather than humiliating the child

So if a kid goes to McDonalds and orders food but doesn't have money, they should give it to him any way? The tax payers aren't responsible. The parents are. The kid won't starve from a cheese sandwich and fruit. Teaches responsibility. Maybe the parents in that district should take care of their kids. Don't stick others with the tab if someone choses to have a child.

That worker already quit.

um, no, they should not

but if a worker, gives it to them anyway,, THEY (The worker) should be accountable for the bill

I raised my son as a single mom. My mom raised 2 as a single mom. We took care of our own. If that traumatized that child that much, he better learn to get over it. I forgot my lunch twice. I learned to be more responsible. My mom learned to make sure I had something. We didn't rely on others. The tax payers shouldn't pay that dead beat debt

this is not about taxpayers

its about an employee error, and the employee should be held responsible,,,

they cant serve that meal to anyone else, so they are out the money either way,, and the one that caused the meal to not be usable was THE EMPLOYEE

not the parents or the child

Someone has to pay for the food and the cooks/servers. frustrated

Look at what the debt was before. Someone had to pay

She quit...now what? She makes minimum wage (I am sure just like they do here). Maybe she can barely afford to feed her own family let alone feed kids because the parents aren't responsible

Give it to one, kinda have to give it to all. Do those kids, who might be struggling too, get free lunches?

she was irresponsible in her duties, serving an unpaid for meal

period..

yes, she did resign

I commented on what I think should happen in these cases where a cafeteria worker gives away food that hasnt been paid for

its not really a big deal

My niece is a 7th grade math teacher at a middle class school and still uses her income to keep supplies in the class. I always made sure my son had what he needed. Time for those parents to step it up

I remember getting my food and going to pay and found out I didn't have enough in my account. Had to go back and get a sandwich. Never hurt me at all. People make mistakes. Most of the servers don't take the money these days and she may not have known. The parents should have kept on top of it

parents cant keep on top of what workers will do

at the end of the day,, food costs money

that was money owed whether the kid ate or didnt

and the parents shouldnt be responsible for food the kid didnt get

so who owes the money?

our cherished 'taxpayers'

its cutting off the nose to spite the face to just throw that meal away

so that taxpayers dont get stuck

the options are to let the kid eat and add it to the parents charge

or

throw it away and charge the employee for wasting it

Parents can't control workers but it's the parents responsibility to make sure the kid has money or a sack lunch. Part of being a parent.

The parents owe the money! It's their kid

So it must be a big deal to you....if it wasn't, you wouldn't respond to ANYONE with a full goddam third of threads posts. But go ahead with your "no big deal" posts.....throw in a cpl snaps and a head twist along the way for effect....
