Topic: easy trick to expose scammers! | |
---|---|
so far I've run into nothing but ******** on here or any free dating site, which isn't the sites fault at all. but one thing i found to expose someone who may be trying to scam you is this...
request that they do a VERY specific action in a picture that is not normal fare....and the metadata (save pic, check properties/details) on the pic should be in a time frame after the request was made. now this will only prove that they are in fact the person you are conversing with, and nothing more. but sometimes that may just be enough. then you can get a feel if they have an agenda other than connecting. here is an example: request that they write something you tell them to on a piece of paper and take a pic of themselves holding it up under their face. be creative! if they think you are joking and repeatedly dance around doing that, then chances are they are not legit. |

Or you could Skype.

I like the idea of them holding up a message but I reckon they will think you're mad. I've no idea how you send photos in a message anyway so would they have to embarrass themselves posting it on their profile?

i don't Skype or face call, but yes that would work well. i guess my idea is for that next step when you take it away from here.

Sure it's a good idea, but how does it look, if you're going to demand sort of verification from someone you've just met, right in the very first message. Might be interpreted as an insult, right.
I'd say kiss my a.. lol. I don't have to prove you anything, cuz hey .. maybe you're a scammer .. So it's equal .. I'd suggest to pay attention to the details .. scammers usually try to avoid to answer your questions of any kind .. their grammar might be terrible .. after couple of hi messages they're in a hurry to move out of the site asking for your personal contacts - email, skype or whatsapp name, etc .. Check their profile .. They look too good to be true .. if by their pictures .. scammers usually have only one profile pic and no profile at all .. So you can use an image finder to verify that this image really belongs to that person and not to .. let's say miss South Africa. Good luck in spotting scammers |

Good luck in spotting scammers I'm with you, and i wouldn't say that right off the bat, that would be inconsiderate of me. i would also do the same for her as well. interaction is a 2-way street. I'm just saying that I've used that method (once we got to that point and I'm still unclear) and have yet to get the requested pic.....and I'm willing to bet not bc i offended a genuine person. you have to be couth |
