Vinyl or cassettes? Which one was your favorite? Do you remember the first cassette/vinyl album you bought?

Me? I loved vinyl. But I had more cassette tapes because they could travel with me (in my boom box, lol). First vinyl album I got was an Alvin and The Chipmunks album Chipmunk Punk (Hey! I was like six when I got it, lol).

Actually still have some of the first Vinyl Albums and 45's I bought.. And still have a antique record player that looks like a grand fathers clock to play them on and it still works... bigsmile

One of my favorites was Gary Wright bought the Album cause of one song "Dream Weaver" back then if you wanted a song many did not come out as singles so you had to buy the Album..

So for me it was the vinyl did not buy many cassettes.. but did get a few of them and sure they are in the shed or extra bedroom somewhere.. But all the Albums/45's are in the extra bedroom.. still play them from time to time..

I had a slew of 45's. Music from Dolly Parton to ABBA. My mom loved disco music, and she infected me with it. laugh Also had a ton of KISS 45's. My parents still have my old cassette and vinyl collection in their garage. Makes me happy to see vinyl has made a come back.

Definitely vinyl. But I fell for that mail order deal more than once and got a lot of music on cassettes as well. You know, 10 cassettes for .01, and then you end up getting one at full price for the next few months until you cancel. I have no idea how I talked my parents into paying for those!

The first I bought, it was probably something like Sesame Street Fever but what I remember going out to get was the Grease Soundtrack.

I did the same thing J-Le. Hell....how could you pass up getting 12 cassettes for a penny? laugh I always hated how they sent you one that you didn't ask for, and you had to send it back or else they charged you for it. grumble laugh First cassette tape I got was Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger". And I didn't care for it except for the main song. And I had Thriller on both vinyl and cassette. Chum on!laugh

I used to love the old vinyl.

But then tapes came along and I thought they were the bees knees.

Then CD's was it I think, I thought they were the bees knees

Now we've got iPod this that and the other, I've lost track of what the latest gadget is.

I had tons of vinyl. A few cassettes for the car but I found out the hard way they don't stand up to the Florida heat very well in a hot car! Then came CD's which stand up well to the heat btw! Lately I have gotten in to digital streaming, it saves time space and a lot of money that I would have to spend replacing all those vinyls and cassettes! So many more options these days. happy

I have 2 older sisters so we had quite a bit of vinyl. I'm not sure what the first one bought with me in mind was...probably either Donny Osmond or Jackson 5. lol I am pretty sure the first one I ever bought was an 8 track though. Later I also joined Columbia House to buy the cassettes
