Lately I have been finding myself avoiding relationship with females who are to religious. Being to religious to me is the blocking of understanding with the world & its differences.
I am forever curious about the laws of love & religion. Can one truly find Love & happiness if he/she shares different views on life and religion? |

An interesting question but too broad to have a general answer as some people are flexible and not rigid and are comfortable with other people having their own beliefs and although different are respectful, while others require adherence to their specific dogma. You need a one on one conversation with a person to ascertain their degree of commitment and flexibility regarding religious affiliation and degree of acceptance...

when it comes to religion more often than not its really all about shoulds and should not's. i am referring to parental tapes and the shame and guilt associated with it. a person of good moral values of right and wrong is most important i believe. to much can turn off permission to be real and experience the healthy joys life has to offer. |

I think you can as long as the two of you are respectful of the others beliefs. I am Lutheran personally and I don't think that will change based on the beliefs of a new partner. I will expect that person to respect my beliefs as I respect his. I would not try to change his religion or his views. How can we learn and grow from trying to change each other to suit ourselves. I would rather share our different views and learn from them.

That's okay. It's a choice. Right now there are women finding themselves avoiding relationships with men who aren't too religious. Everyone whittles down their dating pool according to their own subjective wants. Being to religious to me is the blocking of understanding with the world & its differences.
Doesn't really matter why. Not dating too religious women because you believe they don't put out soon enough or not dating too religious women because they're too closed minded, it all leads to the same place. Not dating too religious women. Your intentions don't really matter until you start dating someone. If you aren't going to date them, your intentions towards them are irrelevant. Can one truly find Love & happiness if he/she shares different views on life and religion?
Sure. The problem is when one or both people: 1. Feel they have to be right. 2. Feel they need other people to see them as right. 3. Hold views that are antagonistic towards the others views, even in a passive or non confrontational way. |
