I'll fess up, I got on the Pokemon Go bandwagon! I haven't played too much because it requires a lot of undivided attention, not to mention phone battery life and drives up your data usage. Plus, it's been a little slow to connect as everyone else in the world is playing.

The pros:
It gets you to visit/discover parts of your city that you may not have known about. Pokestops are planted all around cities. You have to actually go to the Pokestop to collect items (Pokeballs, eggs).

It gets you to exercise. You have to walk with the app open to hatch your Pokemon eggs.

It's a very social game and is bringing people together. People meet up at Pokemon gyms, events, etc. I haven't gotten this far into it, but it's something my work peers are into so we talk about our Pokemon Go adventures.

The cons:
All the stuff you hear in the news... people getting mugged, losing awareness of their surroundings, etc.

I think it's a pretty cool game, but you definitely have to have a lot of time and phone battery life (not to mention internet connectivity!)

Disclosure: So far I've only caught 4 Pokemon and found one egg.

Update: I just discovered that I had an insense ball in my items stash and attracted and caught 5 Pokemon in the last half hour. Go me!

Mine aren't attracting anything at the moment.

Where are the Police Academy crew ? They need to get that evil game maker .

Well on the bright side, I'm on my way to becoming a Pokémon Trainer and I'll guide you through the ways of catching Pokémon. I'm up to 32 now, I only have 218 more to go!

That is an entirely reasonable fear! Pokemon Go is a gateway into all sorts of madness!

I'm already kind of bored of it. But it's still fun to play with my daughter at the park.
